Large high-quality color film plates. A large film plate with a good, well-focused camera can achieve very high resolution. This photo was made by the Office of War Information, a U.S. government propaganda project in which government photographers captured various scenes of U.S. military training and industry. They had very good equipment and produced many really impressive photos. The thing is, normal printing was not up to reproducing the quality of such images; you needed media such as slide projectors to get the full impact. Only with modern high-resolution digital scanners and displays can we easily see how good the original photos were. --Colin Douglas Howell (talk) 17:10, 23 November 2020 (UTC)
