Wearing one's pants at this level is noted among blue-collar workers having a certain adult male physique: a large paunch relative to average or narrow hips. The pants are sized so the waistband fits snugly under the paunch in front and at the waist in back. With sitting and other movements, the back waist slides down to the level of the front. This "cleavage-revealing" style is characteristically associated with plumbers, perhaps because their work is often performed indoors in residential or commercial buildings where there are observers present. What's unusual about this photo is that the welder isn't wearing a belt (purchased or improvised) to ensure the pants wouldn't continue sliding down. -- Deborahjay (talk) 07:51, 17 December 2015 (UTC)
