Is this not a derivative work that should not be allowed on Commons as it is based on a non-free source? --Botev 12:52, 23 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Good question, Botev ... if I drew a duck that was Donald Duck blended with Daffy Duck, wouldn't Disney and Warner Bros. both be suing me? --SVTCobra 16:18, 23 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Well, I would say that depends on the degree of similarity but theoretically they might. In my opinion, as long as it is your own work that is just in some way inspired by some other work, it's perfectly fine. In fact, many artists are inspired by other artists' works. That's why all manga-images are similar - they all belong to the same genre. However, the description of this image states that the drawing combines design elements of the original. And that - in my opinion - goes beyond mere inspiration. Maybe just the description is misleading? --Botev 19:54, 23 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
I "copied" only the style, that makes it a typical anime-figure. If you compare this picture with the original characters, then you will see what i mean. Haruhi --Niabot 20:26, 24 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
