The map appears to indicate that a large part of Roumania has been in the possession of Ukraine, which is preposterous. Poland and Baltic States also appear to have been "shaded" in this map.

I believe that, after its declaration of independence, Ukraine tried to get as many territories as it could get from the older Empire, bargaining with both sides (soviets and Germans) who offers what.

Its initial request of 10 former Gubernias has been accepted, initially, by Kerenski on 27.July.1917, but refused by the delegates of some of these. Later on, one of these, Bessarabia, (re)joined Roumania instead of Ukraine. Others joined the country called today Bielorussia (White Russia). Many of these former Gubernias and some more, have been awarded Ukraine after the war by Stalin, and Krim by the Ukraininan-born Khruschioff in 1956.

What is the origin of the map? Really everyone can insert whatever picture s/he wants?
