There would be far, far more exhaust by the time the launch and made it that far. This picture is staged: they just hoisted the missile and fired some smoke cartridges under it. Look at the way the smoke billows out, so calm, not the several tons of pressure and fire behind it. HA!

This IS what a "cold launch" looks like. The engine does not ignite until the missile is far above the silo. /ℇsquilo 12:24, 12 February 2019 (UTC)Reply
