Why does the illustration show three phalanges in the thumb, while the article repeatedly states that tehre are only two. I.e. the formula is 2+3+3+3+3, but the image shows 3+3+3+3+3 — Preceding unsigned comment was added by 46.239.29.224 (talk) 20:00, 12 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

i find problematic that you didnt read the labels of the image before asking this. There are only two phalanges in the thumb. the one missing is called intermediate phalange and is in color "blue" in the diagram. Carpals and metacarpals are the bones of the hand, inside your palm. and do not count as Pkalanges -LadyofHats (talk) 11:37, 13 October 2016 (UTC)Reply
