Mysterious Color Distortion

edit

I'm baffled. On the file page, the image I uploaded looks identical to the image it was replacing. However, if you go to the August Blue page in the Tate's online gallery, the colors are radically different. That's where I got the image from. The image file I downloaded looks like it does on the Tate's online gallery page. So, is Wikimedia Commons attempting to automatically apply some color balancing algorithm? If so, can that be disabled somehow? The changes are pretty extreme. Once this is figured out, it's quite possible that the previous version of the file is the same as what I uploaded but with a higher resolution. If this is the case, then it should be restored. The Tate's page should be used as the visual reference to determine this. --RocketTestPilot (talk) 18:32, 4 December 2019 (UTC)Reply
