Golfe de Gascogne

gulf of the northeast Atlantic Ocean located south of the Celtic Sea

The Bay of Biscay (or Gulf of Biscay, Golfe de Gascogne in French, Mar Cantábrico in Galician and Spanish) is a gulf of the North Atlantic Ocean. It lies along the western coast of France from Pointe du Raz in south-western Britanny (to the south of Iroise Sea near Brest and of the convergence area between waters of the Atlantic Ocean and the English Channel) to the Spanish border, and the northern coast of Spain (up to Galicia). It is named in English for the Spanish province of Biscay.
