Great Zimbabwe is the name given to the remains of stone, sometimes referred to as the Great Zimbabwe Ruins, of an ancient Southern African city, located in present-day Zimbabwe which was once the centre of a vast empire known as the Empire of Great Zimbabwe (also called Monomotapa, Mwene Mutapa Empire or the Munhumutapa Empire).
