Lothian Buses: Get There Greener

English: Get There Greener is a special branding applied to buses operated by Lothian Buses which have been retro-fitted with exhaust emission reduction technology. It was introduced in September 2010, supplemental to the Classic livery, which first emerged a few months earlier. It also featured the ecoLothianbuses.com fleetname, but this was discontinued from 2013.

Dart SLF / Pointer edit

The technology was first applied to the Dennis Dart SLF / Plaxton Pointer fleet. The prototype bus was the 2001 built No. 188 (Y188 CFS) (later renumbered 53), the oldest bus in the fleet at that time. Experimental running started in 2009, while the bus was still in Harlequin livery. Deemed a success, six of the 2002 built 52-reg batch, No.s 54 to 59, were fitted with it, and unveiled with the new Get There Greener branding, from September 2010. The buses were allocated specifically to route 36 - the branding also featured roofline listing of the main points on the route: Ocean Terminal - Scottish Government - Leith - Bonnington - Stockbridge - West End - City Centre - Holyrood - Parliament. The scheme also featured the modified fleetname ecoLothianbuses.com, applied only to the sides and rear. The prototype 188 was similarly branded in January 2011. Rather than being updated in 2013 with the new standard Transport for Edinburgh style 'Lothian Buses' fleetname, those that were still in service simply had the fleetname removed.

B7RLE / Eclipse Urban 1 edit

The second type to receive the branding were the 35 buses in the 2004 & 2005 built 04 & 55 registered batches of the Volvo B7RLE / Wrightbus Eclipse Urban 1 fleet, No.s 101-130 and 131-135 respectively. On this type the branding was less pronounced, featuring markings only on the sides, retaining the leaf and dragonfly motifs, and featuring no route specific markings. It also featured the ecoLothianbuses.com fleetname, later replaced with the Transport for Edinburgh style 'Lothian Buses'.
