Sequence of actions for a regular DR

Hi, I normaly work on a weekly base on the entries within Category:Incomplete deletion requests. I noticed that there often many hundreds of entries in Category:Incomplete deletion requests - missing subpage. +98% of them are false positive created by the QuickDelete gadget. A null-edit to those files is droppig them out of that category. Thats likely because the gadget firstly edits the File page and afterwards creates the deletion request page. If the sequence of actions by the gadget would be the other way arround.

  1. create the deletion request page
  2. edit the file description page
  3. add the deletion request page to the dayly deletion request page
  4. inform the uploader

It would be great if somebody with javascript skills could carry out this change. (I'm spending several hours a week to null-edit hundreds of files just to find about 1% of incomplete DRs where the DR page is realy missing). Or are there other reasons why it has to be in the current sequence? Thx and regards. --JuTa 09:32, 26 March 2014 (UTC)

In which case the gadget must check whether the editing rights of the user for the current page are sufficient. Otherwise we'll end up with orphan deletion request pages. I'd prefer adding a purge-step instead. -- Rillke(q?) 09:52, 26 March 2014 (UTC)
That would be fine too. The main goal is to get rid of the lot false positive within Category:Incomplete deletion requests - missing subpage. --JuTa 10:05, 26 March 2014 (UTC)
Okay, implemented. Thanks for bringing this up. -- Rillke(q?) 10:17, 26 March 2014 (UTC)
I'm sorry, but it seems a purge dos not help here. Today I found several "new" false positive requests in the category. A manual purge test didn't dropped the images out of Category:Incomplete deletion requests - missing subpage. Could this step be changed i.e. to a null-edit or similar? Sorry to bug again. --JuTa 08:39, 27 March 2014 (UTC)
Please, I have to be sorry. Now, with forcelinkupdate, it should work. -- Rillke(q?) 09:00, 27 March 2014 (UTC)

"Rename & Replace" button

From today, there is no "Rename & Replace" button (Firefox, Google Chrome), but "Move" only. What's the problem? --sasha (krassotkin) 07:31, 22 October 2014 (UTC)

  • Hmm ... It's back again. --sasha (krassotkin) 09:03, 22 October 2014 (UTC)
It was due to a syntax error in MediaWiki:Gadget-libCommons.js which has been fixed since. -- Rillke(q?) 10:50, 22 October 2014 (UTC)

height for showProgress

To me, the show progress window is not auto expanding according to the content. For example, if I run the code

AjaxQuickDelete.showProgress('Are you sure you want to delete the file "A random file found in Commons.jpg"');

in firebug, part of the text is cut off. I recommend making the height as 'auto' in showProgress method. Please comment. --Sreejith K (talk) 16:50, 17 March 2014 (UTC)

Yes, please do. I was about to rewrite the whole gadget but it is stuck. -- Rillke(q?) 17:14, 17 March 2014 (UTC)
  Done - (diff) --Sreejith K (talk) 19:42, 17 March 2014 (UTC)
I had to make this change too (diff). Thanks. --Sreejith K (talk) 22:48, 17 March 2014 (UTC)

Ask for confirmation

I have a suggestion for improvement of this tool: it should at least have an option to ask the user for confirmation before executing the "no source"-type actions. I use a laptop with a probably too sensitive touchpad, and it can happen that I accidentally click one of the toolbox links ([1] [2]; fortunately these were files uploaded by me, not someone else I'd have bugged with a wrong talkpage message if that had happened there). darkweasel94 07:46, 6 August 2014 (UTC)
