Wrangel Government

edit

The successor to General Anton Denikin's South Russian Government set up in February 1920. General Pyotr Wrangel was the pravitel' (правитель, "ruler") while the government itself was headed by a Chairman of the Council of Ministers. The government officially assumed the name Government of South Russia on 16 August 1920 and it controlled the area of the former Russian Empire's Taurida Governorate, i.e., the Crimean Peninsula and adjacent areas of the mainland.

The still available stock of Tsarist stamps was overprinted “Почта РУССКОЙ АРМiИ” (Post Russian Army) in black, red or blue and/or surcharged with new values.
