Minor corrections necessary on World Atlas
edit@Spesh531: Hello,
I noticed some minor mistakes on the series of world maps showing axis/allied controlled areas during WWII:
- Iceland is invaded by the British in March 1940 => should be blue from this date
- Cameroon and Congo (French colonies) declare allegiance to the Free French in August 1940, whereas Gabon is taken by force in November 1940. They should all be blue from this date. See fr:Histoire de l'Empire colonial français pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale#Ralliement à la France libre d'une partie des colonies françaises, ask me if you need translation.
- The Anglo-Iraqi War only takes place in May 1941 following a pro-Axis coup in Iraq in March, so it would be legitimate to have Iraq in black in April 1941
- Syria/Lebanon is taken over by British/Free French only in June/July 1941 => should be black in April 1941
- Madagascar is conquered by the British in October/November 1942 => should be entirely blue on the Dec 1942 map
- French Somaliland (today known as Djibouti) switches allegiance from Vichy to Free French on 28-30 December 1942 => should be black before this date
That's all I saw for now. Can one of the original uploaders take care of the changes? Place Clichy 09:06, 5 September 2014 (UTC)
- Since File:BlankMap-World.png has been updated since this map was last updated, I will eventually get to these maps, (and this time, hopefully in its entirety), and so I will get to it soon, as soon as I am done with my Syria/Iraq contribution for that week, as I plan on updating those on a weekly basis.—SPESH531Other 04:17, 6 September 2014 (UTC)
