This template is used to specify that a file in Wikimedia Commons contains a map from a certain year, so it must not be overwritten with another version of the same map (for example, an update from a later year).
The template receives only one parameter, and it is a required one: the year to which the map version belongs.
Example use:
{{Map-from-year-dont-overwrite|1=2000}}

Result:

This file contains year 2000 map version. Don't overwrite this file with a map version from any other year. If you want to upload a version of the map from another year, please upload it as a new file.
