The image above is a banknote or coins issued in French francs. According to an order of the Cour de Cassation of 5 February 2002 (see [1]), they are not protected by the code de la propriété intellectuelle. Indeed, French francs are issued by public institutions and not by an author, and they are assigned to the general interest. See COM:CUR France.
