Deprecated values edit

During the last two months I have mapped the template to the w:Art & Architecture Thesaurus to improve a clean transfer of the data from Commons to Wikidata (cf. d:Wikidata:WikiProject Visual arts/AAT Objects Facet Mapping). Doing this I met some values that should probably not be used. Some of them are not disambiguated, others do not refer to objects. I have pointed out the single causes here. To collect the concerned template transclusions I have inserted automatic category additions in the template to facilitate a decision how to treat those cases. The categories are the following – it is not necessary to create them:

I assume that it will take some time until the parser has collected all transclusions. I will resume the work and empty the categories probably in spring if nobody else has done then. However, i hope that the categories won't be annoying. Regards, --Marsupium (talk) 19:26, 8 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Thanks. I have done a few of them. There remains "pitcher", but uses seem to be fine, I actually do not understand how it is ambiguous, and "axe" that does not seem really ambiguous either but used rather widely, in good quality files, and the data should probably be used in Wikidata. --Zolo (talk) 09:24, 21 August 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Zolo:
  1. I have to recheck "pitcher" (like pitcher (Q132397)), and also "ewer" (the sitelinks of ewer (Q404785) differ from those before your edit).
  2. For "ax"/"axe"/"axes" AAT distinguished "axes (tools)" (300024664) and "axes (weapons)" (300036982), but our axe (Q39397) is fine as a super-class I think and for many instances we won't be able to differentiate probably, but many cases in Category:Tagged ambiguous/ax should actually be made a ax head (Q30113226).

Now all remaining ambiguous cases have been sorted and the setting of the categories removed. The Wikidata mapping is completed, migration of the data to Wikidata can be started. --Marsupium (talk) 00:14, 17 October 2018 (UTC)Reply
