Template talk:ItalyDefense

This template requires revision, because the Italian Defense Ministry changed its policy about its contents. As you can see at archive.org, this template referred to this text, while some time ago (we don't know when) the text has been changed into this one. This applies to (for what Commons could and should be concerned into) images found on the sites of the Italian Army, Navy and Air Force, which once were all based upon the same server "difesa.it" (and the cited text was very general). Carabinieri's site has always been kept apart and always had a different policy.

All content uploaded BEFORE May 23, 2006 remains in the Public Domain, because once it has been released as such, PD licensing cannot be reverted.

All what has been uploaded after May 23, 2006 has to be reconsidered, unless we can discover the precise date in which the license was changed. However, historical content produced in Italy, which hasn't any artistic content, falls into the Public Domain (and stays there) at the beginning of the 21st year after its production. Also, all the content which has been produced by a public branch of the state, falls into the Public Domain (and stays there) at the beginning of the 21st year after its production. These rules have not been influenced nor modified by any foreign regulations, UE included, the latter having been practically ignored by the latest related Italian acts. So, we really need to correct only a few recent images, those which might have been produced after Jan 1, 1987 (those produced on the 31st of December 2006 are in the PD since Jan 1, 2007) - but use extensively archive.org to see whether those images had already been released in PD. And we have to correct this template --Gianfranco 17:15, 22 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
