Should we keep showing Olympic Athletes from Russia (OAR) and Neutral Paralympic Athletes (NPA) for some years? edit

Because of sanctions from WADA to Russian NOC, it's unlikely to see any Russia athletes' teams using RUS IOC country code, not only in Olympic and Paralympic, but also European Games, CISM Games, CIS Games, etc. In the following 4 years. --Liuxinyu970226 (talk) 00:49, 18 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

What should we do for the de facto Russian team name? edit

As per TAS-CAS decision, Russia can't participant as their country identification during Nov 2020 to Nov 2022, instead the "Russian Olympic Committee" (and usually signed as "ROC") is used, this affects the ongoing Tokyo 2020 and upcoming Beijing 2022. But the problem is that currently in Module:Countries/Olympic teams:

		ROC  = { 'Republic of China',                   qid = 'Q13426199', the = true, note = '<small>(1932–1976)</small>', },
		     --[[1980–: TPE]]

So that there has a confliction if we directly modify this, what should we do under current situation? Note that in both Tokyo and Beijing cases, the IOC code is same ROC. --Liuxinyu970226 (talk) 04:51, 27 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

They are already integrated in the data module (under the "OAR" Olympic code: Olympic Athlets of Russia, not "ROC"), for use in all related pages including this template.
the "Russian Olympic Commitee" (incorrectly referenced above as "ROC") is NOT present in Tokyo 2020/2021 and in fact the template does not encode national committees, but teams/"delegations" in the Olympic games. The Olympic Athlets of Russia are NOT presented by their national Olympic Committee but signed individually with the IOC to pass agreements for selecting themselves in enough international competitions, with strict controls. The Russian Olympic Committes could not decide themselves who would represent them in Tokyo, The OAR team is then formed directly and exceptionally by the IOC, for a limited time, as long as the Russian Committes is excluded. verdy_p (talk) 11:43, 29 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
Oh I see that Tokyo 2020 displays "ROC"; what I did was to change the old code "ROC" for the Republic of China to "ROC1", adding the new code "ROC" for the Russian Olympic committee" (along with its Wikidata QID). Now it is visible. I'll make the Refugee Olympic Team visible too. verdy_p (talk) 13:19, 29 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
