User:Donald Trung/Letters to Zeke Scoville
Zeke Scoville is an expert of Chinese banknotes issued between 1912 and 1949. He was recommended to me by an expert friend who sells Chinese banknotes online. As Zeke Scoville helps creating catalogues of Chinese banknotes in English I contacted him to lend his expertise to Wikimedia Commons.
Can you help me with Chinese banknotes for Wikimedia Commons? (25 D. 10 M. 2018 A.)

"Dear Mr. Scoville,
I am a volunteer contributor to Wikimedia Commons, itโs the website where most images on Wikipedia come from, however it is much more than that, it doesn't just allow for people to use images for Wikipedia but also for anything else. I heard that you're busy writing โ๐ป a new catalogue ๐ about Chinese banknotes from the Republican era and that you wish to catalogue previously โunlistedโ local Chinese banknotes. Iโve found many scans of local Chinese banknotes scattered across the internet and Iโm in the process of creating the largest online catalogue ๐ of Chinese banknotes based primarily on the Great works of Banknote.ws which is a collaborative effort however Banknote.ws limits their scope to only include currently catalogued entries, Banknote.ws in its current state has managed to get around 60% (sixty percent) to 75% (seventy-five percent) of all Chinese banknotes produced between 1912 and 1949. In the attachments you can view all the current categories I created in my pursuit to catalogue ๐ all Chinese banknotes, a lot of these categories now only have a few files ๐ but after I will finish importing all Chinese cash coins I have permission for I will focus again on Chinese banknotes and will search ๐ the internet for the most obscure specimens after Iโm done importing all public domain images from Banknote.ws.
As youโre one of the leading experts in Chinese Notaphilia I want you to help contribute your scans to Wikimedia Commons as well, I know that you are busy writing the next encyclopedia about Chinese Republican era banknotes but if you will also publish your work online it will allow โyour successorsโ to not have to start โat square 1 (one)โ. Iโm busy doing that for Chinese cash coins now so โthe successor of David Hartillโ can just use Wikimedia Commons as the groundwork for their next definitive catalogue and Iโve imported all current information from websites regarding Chinese cash coins to Wikimedia projects to allow โthe basicsโ to already be covered. If you so desire your images can lay the foundation for โthe next great advanceโ in Chinese notaphilia. You can find the โmaster categoryโ here:

Feel free to ask me anything related to uploading and what copyright ยฉ templates you would have to use.
Yours faithfully,
Donald Trung Quoc Don
