User:Econterms/Getting permission from others to upload their photos

We are asked to use this interactive interface: Commons:Wikimedia_OTRS_release_generator

It may be easier to get myself appointed as a representative of photographers who give me photos than to ask them to click through it.

The questions are:

  • Am I the photographer or do I represent the photographer?
  • If I am a representative, state who the copyright holder is, and what authority I have to represent the copyright holder
  • Am I releasing the photograph (the depiction, the "media work") or the object depicted, or both?
  • Have I uploaded it already to Wikimedia Commons?
  • Which license should now apply? CC 4.0 BY-SA, or CC 4.0 BY, or CC 1.0 universal public domain

An equivalent email exists but we are asked not to use it, presumably because that's labor-intensive: Commons:Email_templates

Simplified to cover only the common cases, the email reads:

To: permissions-commons@wikimedia.org

I hereby affirm that I [am/represent] [copyright holder's name], the creator of these four photographs and have legal authority to release any copyright on these works.

I agree to publish the above-mentioned content under the following free license: Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 4.0 International

I acknowledge that by doing so I grant anyone the right to use the work, even in a commercial product, and to modify it according to their needs, provided that they abide by the terms of the license and any other applicable laws.

I am aware that this agreement is not limited to Wikipedia or related sites.

I am aware that the copyright holder always retains ownership of the copyright as well as the right to be attributed in accordance with the license chosen. Modifications others make to the work will not be claimed to have been made by the copyright holder.

I acknowledge that I cannot withdraw this agreement, and that the content may or may not be kept permanently on a Wikimedia project.
