• Tasnim has a Photography Service with dozens of staff photographers all across Iran, and a few in countries such as Pakistan, Iraq, Yemen, Syria and Lebanon, as well as the Palestinian territories. The Photography Service is responsible for the website's 'Photo' section, which is in form of a gallery (example).

• Tasnim usually puts watermark on its photographs. A typical watermark would include a logo with medium level opacity on bottom left, and the name of the photographer on a black border below. This watermarking has been unchanged for years. However, some old photographs (mostly published during 2012–2013) had another watermarking design in which the logo had full opacity and the border was grey. Also the name of the website in all-caps form ('TASNIM NEWS AGENCY') appeared on bottom right (example).
• Almost all photographers whose names appear on typical watermarks work for Tasnim, and the rights of their photographs belong to that news agency. The only known exception is Mohammad Agah, whose photographs are usually published by multiple Iranian websites. Community decision rules that these photographs should be treated like those taken by Tasnim staff (see Category:Photographs by Mohammad Agah and corresponding discussions here and here).
• The Photography Service is not the only creator of photographs in Tasnim. Provincial offices (located in cities other than Tehran) are pretty active in covering local events, and it is usual for them to publish pictures taken by their reporters and correspondents (who are not necessarily proficient photographers, and do not necessarily have high-end cameras). Such photos are inconsistent in terms of watermarking and credit, so the description above is not always true. There are cases of using watermarks with different font size and/or emblem:

• Photographs without watermarked attribution to agency staff, may or may not be works by Tasnim. Sometimes the watermark lacks the name of the photographer (the watermark usually credits "photo: Tasnimnews"), but the creator is identified in the text:

A provincial office may decide to not name the photographer for whatever reason they have, and instead credit the office in the watermark:

Occasionally, photographs are published without any watermarks. There are instances in which the names of the photographer are explicitly mentioned in the page:

• Use caution when a specific Tasnim employee is not identified. Some clues can be of help in corroborating that the photograph was created/is owned by Tasnim, such as mentions that the photograph is exclusive ("

  ") or spotting a red microphone with Tasnim logo on it:

Photographs exist that are a work of Tasnim, but their watermarking is unique. These photographs may or may not be credited and they are usually taken by reporters, not professional photographers working in the Photography Service:

In some rare instances, Tasnim publishes photographs "exclusively" and may use strange watermarks that mask the main subject of the photograph (so that other media cannot remove the watermark):

• Sometimes Tasnim republishes content from others but the original source is not attributed (Example: Commons:Deletion requests/File:Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and Liz Truss at 76th UNGA.jpg). Extra care must be exercised to avoid license laundering, in case there are no indications whatsoever that Tasnim holds copyright. This also happens in other Iranian news websites, like Fars News Agency (Example: Commons:Deletion requests/File:Mahbanootata.jpg).
