Wiki Loves Africa is an annual photography competition that aims to showcase the diversity and cultural heritage of the African continent. The theme for Wiki Loves Africa 2023 is "Climate and Weather", which presents an opportunity to explore the unique and varied climatic conditions that exist across Africa.

Why is Climate and Weather Important in Africa?

Africa is a vast and diverse continent with a wide range of climatic conditions. From the scorching deserts of the Sahara to the tropical rainforests of the Congo Basin, Africa's climate and weather patterns are as varied as its landscapes. One of the most striking features of Africa's climate is the continent's long dry seasons, which are caused by the lack of rainfall in many parts of the continent. These dry seasons can last for several months and have a significant impact on the lives of people who live in these regions.
