YouTube edit

Current threat level: Moderately hostile (in general due to awful business practices, security, moderation, paywalled features, and updates and changes)

YouTube, since Google's acquisition on October 9, 2006, has faced recent criticism that led to an ongoing enshittification.

Finding legitimate videos under free (libre) Creative Commons licenses is painfully impossible and gives everyone a headache. It applies to the search. Invidious as well.

The search is unfair and futile nowadays and doesn't respect every keyword due to the atrocious algorithm. It appears some relevant results with excessive irrelevant ones in recommendation sections, including "recommended for you" and "people also watched," 75–95% filled with YT Shorts everywhere (which is no better competitor against and a ripoff of TikTok), having potential copyright issues (much worse than Flickr), and so on.

It's sad to say I barely gave up browsing and importing pre and post-June 2023 videos to here and other sites because soydevs and code monkeys at YouTube upflandered the search; even similar to Harvey Films ended up owning post-March 1962 Famous/Paramount-produced theatrical cartoons.

TL;DR: YouTube deserves to be molten down and is history on the wasteland.

A typical part is where Mizra is shocked about the car wreck.
