Imagen: Conchilla.jpg

Muchas Gracias.--jorge horacio richino 02:48, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

Wikimedia Commons has a specific scope

Hallo ABF!

И 20:51, 5 April 2008 (UTC)

Image:Mohammed kaaba 1315.jpg

If I'm reading the protection log correctly, you converted my one-year semiprotection of this image to an indefinite one. Was that intentional? For images that have been vandalised as part of the same campaign, I've been applying one-year protection (after the vandalism continued immediately upon expiry of initial shorter protection). My main concern is making sure we're consistent, one way or the other, but I also generally dislike indefinite protections to counter vandalism attacks. I'm hoping that one year is an appropriate time for now and that the vandals have moved on by then. What do you think? LX (talk, contribs) 12:01, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

Hmmm... difficult case. I cant belive those stupid fools will stop in a year as I can see from the history.... abf /talk to me/ 14:19, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

Image:Sleeping beauty castle.png

You deleted this image because "still missing essential information", but you didn't warn me. It's only an edit version of Image:Sleeping beauty castle.jpg without the sky. If it's possible to restore it, I'll add all the information you need. Thank you. --Incola 13:09, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

Maryam Namazie

Would you be so kind as to restore Image:MaryamNamazie.jpg? I'm sure I can fix whatever information was missing. 08:56, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

That was me. Haukurth 12:20, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

English: I deleted your file, becuase its not your own work and you did not send a permission to COM:OTRS.
Deutsch: Ich habe dein Bild gelöscht, weil es nicht von dir erstellt wurde und du keine Erlaubniss dafür ans COM:OTRS geschickt hast.

abf /talk to me/ 14:19, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

Could you please restore it? Haukurth 15:17, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
It's hard for me to discuss something I can't see but now I've found the Google cache of the image. Before it was deleted it contained a template saying that the source and author weren't listed. That's just not right, they were both specified very clearly. There was also some Flickr template there that didn't make any sense. Anyway, I can certainly forward the e-mail from the photographer if that's what you mean.
I would have appreciated some sort of warning before the image was deleted. I only rarely check my Commons watchlist but I have things set up so that I get an e-mail when my talk page here gets edited. In this case I didn't see anything until the bots started removing links to the image back on English Wikipedia. It's more cumbersome for everyone to fix things after deletion has taken place. Haukurth 15:32, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
No, I will not restore it before you have send the Mail mentiont with "He responded positively and finally sent me via e-mail" to the OTRS-Team. Regards, abf /talk to me/ 19:36, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
Please just quickly restore it so I can refer to the image in the e-mail, seems unnecessarily confusing otherwise. Haukurth 22:52, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
When you send the mail to the OTRS-team an OTRS-member will quickly give me the green light for the restoration or he/she will restore it on their own if the otrs-member is sysop as well. abf /talk to me/ 20:00, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
It's easier and quicker for the OTRS-member to process this if s/he can access the image and the image information page in question. I've told you, I'll send the e-mail - please just restore the picture. Even without any e-mail there was still very good evidence present for the picture being licensed like I said it was. Certainly better evidence than is usually present with photographs uploaded by random anonymous users and claimed as their own works. Why can't you just help me out here? Do you think this is some sort of scam? What do you think the risk is? Haukurth 20:05, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
As I have to much AGF today I restored the Image, but it will go again if no OTRS-member confirms it in the following 5 days. Regards, abf /talk to me/ 11:45, 14 April 2008 (UTC) Btw. Anonymus users cant upload anything... abf /talk to me/ 11:45, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
Thank you very much, I've forwarded the e-mail. Haukurth 10:59, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
Btw, by 'anonymous users' I meant pseudonymous users. I give my full real name, most uploaders don't. Haukurth 11:02, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
Well, everything seems hunky dory now. Thank you for your cooperation. Haukurth 17:03, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

I deleted Maisons des écrivains Dumas and the redirect. abf /talk to me/ 12:35, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
Okey, but I'm working on it... Look at castles about Dumas family. I'm uploading and reorganize categories. So it takes times. Can you reverse what you did because I need to finish my work and put now 1/2 pictures about castles and 1 sentence to explain why there is 2 castleof If In France (One on the garden of the castle of Monte-Cristo and another one near Marseille). If not someone else would change or mix pictures by error. Thx. --Patricia.fidi 13:42, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
Aurevoir.--Patricia.fidi 13:53, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

You deleted Lies-magazine-covers.jpg. on 23rd April.

I uploaded this image, I created all the original artwork in the image - it was for an independent magazine I produced. I - alone - own these images. This is the second time I have had the image deleted. This is getting tedious.

In the last posting of it I tried to be clear that these images were my work, and that I had the right to post them. Cangorongo 12:56, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

NOW it IS okay, BEFORE it was NOT okay, because the OTRS-permission has recived now. The image is restored. abf /talk to me/ 19:13, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

I have a question about your vote - what do you exactly mean by 'never edited deletion request'? It may seem like a stupid question, but it's (probably) not :) I ask because I've requested deletion few times, but maybe you mean some deletion request processing. --Leafnode 13:25, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

Hm... maybe i loocked wrong, but I did not see any edit in that part. I'll loock again. abf /talk to me/ 13:33, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

Hi, I'm following the project of the pictures about the italian admiral Ernesto Burzagli. The picture is in public domain for the italian copyright law and for the japanese one because the picture has an anonimous author than the copyright lasts only 50 years [1]. So, it's enough to change the licence from GNU to the public domain one? Thank you for your help.--Giorgiomonteforti 02:46, 27 April 2008 (UTC)

I am not quite shure. The GNU-License is wrong in any case. Please ask at the Commons:Help desk. abf /talk to me/ 11:13, 27 April 2008 (UTC)

Here, I would like to confirm, that I have found that all, images which I have uploaded and listed in the Category:Notes, are violatiang copyright. The holder of the copyright havent agreed to upload it to Commons under the means of such licences, as I associated. --Juandev 13:14, 27 April 2008 (UTC)

Animals of the Galápagos Islands

If I categorice Galapagos Fauna with Category:Animals of the Galápagos Islands the Galapagos will be categoriced in Category:Animals of the Galápagos Islands too - an that doesn't llook nice. An I don't find Commons:Project scope wich does explain why you deleted Animals of the Galápagos Islands - if there is only one gallery it should be Animals of the Galápagos Islands! --Kersti 18:29, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

There is an easy way to solve this problem: [2] Regards, abf /talk to me/ 15:35, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
Thank you, than I move ist to Animals of the Galápagos Islands and Galapagos Fauna may be deleted. Kersti 20:06, 27 April 2008 (UTC)

I notice that this image was deleted. But my attempts to engage any administrator in a dialogue about this were never answered. This photo, as well as the one of John Leavitt's gravestone, were uploaded at the same time. These were personal photographs taken by my cousin Patti Albaugh, who sent them to me as the family historian with the proviso that I could use them for whatever reason I saw fit. What do I do? As a former employee of Time-Warner, I'm familiar with copyright issues. I see none here. Could you please tell me how to proceed? I would really like to upload these images again, but know how to steer the bureaucratic waters of the Commons. Thank you! Regards,MarmadukePercy 19:59, 27 April 2008 (UTC)

The proper name of that image is File:ThaddeusLeavitthouse.jpg. Thank you!MarmadukePercy 20:11, 27 April 2008 (UTC)

What was the problem with Johnpemberton.jpg? What possible doubt can there be that it's in the public domain? -- Zsero 14:12, 28 April 2008 (UTC)

Nothing anymore. abf /talk to me/ 14:14, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
Huh? If there's no doubt that it's in the PD, then why did you delete it? -- Zsero 14:39, 28 April 2008 (UTC)

abf /talk to me/ 14:43, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
It's clearly PD-Old. If it didn't say so, please restore it and I'll add the appropriate template. -- Zsero 14:44, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
The author and his date of death where not mentiont, thats the problem. abf /talk to me/ 14:46, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
The subject died in 1888, so it's clearly old, no matter who the author was. -- Zsero 14:48, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
Its clearly old, but not clearly PD-old. Imagine the shot was taken by a 10 year old guy. If this guy died 51 years after he took the photo its not pd-old, so we NEED the Author and his date of death. abf /talk to me/ 14:52, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
Fine. Could you please restore it under my talk space, so I can upload it to the English WP instead? It's definitely PD in the USA, so that shouldn't be a problem. -- Zsero 14:56, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
Its not possible to restore something on a different namespace, but I'll restore it for a few minutes, so you can move it. Please tell me when you are ready. abf /talk to me/ 14:57, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
Ready. -- Zsero 15:06, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
Thanks! abf /talk to me/ 15:08, 28 April 2008 (UTC)

bot leaving inappropriate messages

A bot gave me a message whilst I was writing the details for the image I had just uploaded. I was in the process of giving it a license tag. The message arrived about 1 minute after the image was uploaded and threatened with blocking. I feel that this is not appropriate to give such a message so soon after an upload. I do not know of any rule that says that the license tags can not be added after the upload. Snowmanradio 14:24, 28 April 2008 (UTC)

Sorry, I am testing with the script at the moment, so I can use no delay time. But if it runs stable I will do so in future. Regards, abf /talk to me/ 14:26, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
Please test it with a more appropriate and polite message. You might irritate a lot of editors by threatening that they are blocked. Which part of it are you testing? Someone said that it was a clone. Have you checked with the original author to see if there are any upgrades. Snowmanradio 14:35, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
The message is polite and I do not they they ARE blocked but they MIGHT BE blocked IF THEY CONTINUE. Thats a big difference... abf /talk to me/ 14:38, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
Anyway, the other bot waits 10 minutes after an upload giving editors time to write something. Snowmanradio 14:58, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
As I told before I will also wait 10 minutes when testing is finished. abf /talk to me/ 14:59, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
That will be a change for the better. Snowmanradio 15:06, 28 April 2008 (UTC)

Image Tagging Image:Tammy_wynette2.jpg

I'm a little confused by the tag you just added to the subject image. The source and both original and modifying author are shown. Please let me know what further information you want. Tim Ross 15:02, 28 April 2008 (UTC)

The author and a correct template ([...]-self is definetly not correct) abf /talk to me/ 15:04, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
What is the correct template, please? The original author released all rights using self. I also release all rights, in terms of the changes and modifications I have made. Tim Ross 15:11, 28 April 2008 (UTC)

uncat tag

Please take a look at Merchants Avenue Historic District - I added cats to it before you tagged it but they're not displaying for some reason. I have not encountered that before. Zaui 19:37, 28 April 2008 (UTC)

Hmmm... seems to be a bug... I'll have a loock at it. abf /talk to me/ 19:41, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
