I just checked my edits on your userpage and talkpage on Commons but I couldn't find anything that I did, or would have done. Do you mean a edit by me on Commons or did I do it on your home wiki?
I also hope I never have to be the Duke of Hell, Peace is what we need :)

Lucas Chiavenato - Abigor, I need your help

As you can perceive, I am in return therefore because I did not receive a reply from the Commons, about my images. I need to insert this images, in the page of Professor Idalberto Chiavenato (

The Wikipedia is a great source of visits for our web-site (, to be more accurate, it is the second main source of visits, behind only of the Google. I have urgency to work on this page.

I am trying to enrich and to edit this page and I am not obtaining because all time they are deleting the images, my email being of domain, because I am working for the Institute Chiavenato de Educação, in São Paulo - Brazil.

I´ll load some images today, but, what i need to do?

Thanks a lot for always helping.

As I understand you did already send the permission to Commons but you are still waiting on a answer...
I will try to reach one of the volunteers and maybe he can help you.
Best regards,
Huib talk 14:33, 31 May 2009 (UTC)
Dear sir,
Thank you for your concerns, I understand your frustrations regarding the non-response to your e-mails giving permissions. However, all the permissions are manually being processed by selected volunteers, spending every possible hour of their spare time replying to all the permissions-inquiries.
Although we have a significant number of volunteers, they do not all speak Portuguese, and it therefore takes some time before your e-mails get answered. Please wait some longer for the approval from our volunteers before uploading the images. Your e-mails will get processed.
Thank you for your patience. m:Mark W (Mwpnl) ¦ talk 18:03, 31 May 2009 (UTC)

I understand. Then, I will be waiting the reply on the part of the volunteers of the Wikipedia. However, the images of this article already had been loaded and somebody already marked them as violating of copyright.

Does Exists some standard marking, that I can use while the reply of the staff of the Permissions does not arrive?

Congratulations for the work and thanks again.

Lucas C. - São Paulo /BR

Dear Lucas,
You can add {{OTRS pending}} to the images you've uploaded. But if your images do get deleted: Don't worry: after the permissions are confirmed, we'll be able to restore your images anyway. Thank you, m:Mark W (Mwpnl) ¦ talk 18:20, 1 June 2009 (UTC)

I obtained contact with the Brazilian volunteer (Patricia), who is helping me for email and already confirmed my authorization to use all photos and images. We can finish here. Thanks a lot!

I do not appreciate your attitude

I expect some explanations for your attitude towards me personally and the Pikiwiki project, which is not my own, but for which I serve as a contact. I have a feeling that you are acting for the wrong motives, and I expect some serious explanations here. If you have some constructive remarks about he project or about my personal conduct - you are more than welcome. If there are problems which you cannot handle fairly and objectively - please let someone else contact me, and we can work them out. You are approaching me as if I were a criminal who tries to introduce illegal material to this project, and needless to say I do not appreciate such an attitude towards me. Drork (talk) 20:13, 2 June 2009 (UTC)

Hello Drork,
It seems to me that you are calm now. If you want some explanetions.. I would like some also.
We are both here to collect free media, (within the policys) and both working on that in different way's I would suggest to keep focussed on our target.. Collecting free media.
You are coming to me with the message you don't like my attituted, but please know I don't like how you where acting to me on IRC to me also. I don't think I give any reasson why you would like to call names to me, or tell me I am destroying Commons.
I would like to end this message with the fact that I don't have any problems with people from Israel or Palastina. I believe all people are even. I visited Israel more than once, so please don't call me a rascist any more.
With best regards,
Huib talk 21:52, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
First of all, I do owe you an apology, because I think I confused you with another user with whom I had a bitter argument in the past, and whose good faith I questioned. He is not involved in this discussion at all. So, I do take back some of my remarks which are apparently irrelevant and unrelated to you.
Having said that, I am very concerned (to say the least) about the way things are handled on the Commons. As I said, the rules are here to serve us, not for us to serve them. The whole idea of the Pikiwiki project is to make the Commons more accessible to people who want to contribute. If mixing up PD tags with CC-by tags is considered a major issue which should end up in blocking, we are just sending people away and sending the message that contributions for this project are practically impossible.
The Pikiwiki project is an expensive project that was conceived in a long process that took about two years. Major Israeli NGOs are involved, and it was already presented in free-content related conferences as a major Wikimedia outreach project. As far as I know, this project is the first of its kind, but there might be similar projects in other countries in the future.
The biggest obstacles in conceiving this project were legal issues, but we overcame them, and we are now sure that our demands from the images' uploaders are fully binding. I explained that over and over again, but people keep asking me if I am sure about that. I cannot be more sure. Then again, I cannot take responsibility for every mistake made by uploaders. If an uploader took 20 pictures in a certain gallery and uploaded them, s/he made a mistake, and these images should be deleted when the mistake is discovered. A friendly warning would be appreciated for two reasons - (1) so we can tell our volunteers to watch out next time (2) so we can update our localized catalog of images (automatic synchronization is still problematic).
Currently, there are more volunteers on the Commons than on Pikiwiki, so it doesn't surprise me that a significant number of problems is discovered on the Commons itself. Hopefully this will improve with time, but remember that User:Pikiwiki is a kind of door between two interfaces. We ask people to contribute on Pikiwiki because we know they are reluctant to contribute using the Commons' international interface.
This project is challenge not properly met by the Commons' administrators so far. I hope that will change, as it is a huge step in making the Commons more friendly. Some users reacted to this project in a way that made me suspect they were politically motivated. One user who was very enthusiastic about uploading harsh anti-Israeli cartoons is now crusading against this project in a way that makes me think he has the wrong motives. Others express fears which are very much exaggerated, as if we are going to spread illegal images all over the place. Some find it hard to believe that the FOP principle in Israel is so liberal - well, it is. What's the use of doubting it?
While I can live with the need to explain things patiently, it is very hard to deal with an unfriendly atmosphere, especially as I know that if this project fails the damage will be huge for the reputation of Wikimedia. Drork (talk) 05:07, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
I do accept your apology, And I will apologize also but my reaction was kind of triggered by your reaction :)
I have placed my ideas to help the project on the Administrator Noticeboard. I hope you can go there and give your opinion. Huib talk 19:30, 3 June 2009 (UTC)

File:Timmy Turner.jpg

Hallo Abigor,

Can u please undelete this image. It has come to my attention that Pieter Kuiper‎ have no understanding what so ever of Israeli Law. And as the picture was taken by a spokeperson of the Party - i do not think there is copyvio. I do not say that it is OK - but I would like to see it and comment having seen Pieter Kuiper complete and utter‎ lack of understanding. Thanks in advance, and I would be truely happy to answer any questions in the future with regards to copyright and FOP in Israel. Deror avi (talk) 08:26, 9 June 2009 (UTC)

I will not undelete the images. The photo is taken on a screen from the election night so the photo isn't there permanent and therefor isn't under the FOP rule so this is a plain Copyvio.
Best regards,
Huib talk 09:45, 9 June 2009 (UTC)

My request

I don't know where my request have gone to - I have seen your response in the history page - are you sure it is from a screen - to my understanding it was taken live. Can you undelete it so it can be discussed? Deror avi (talk) 10:05, 9 June 2009 (UTC)

I don't know what happend to your request but I fixed it and made this a subheader.
I am sure this isn't a live feed since there are no people on stage, and everything points in the direction of a poster so FOP doesn't apply on this images.
Best regards,
Huib talk 17:19, 9 June 2009 (UTC)
I am sure it is a live feed - as I know the person who took the picture - a. he declared that he took it live, and b. I know for a fact that he was there live. and c. - according to Israeli Law - such posters, when in background, are not protected. Deror avi (talk) 06:40, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
The person who took the image was at the place, that's for sure, and there are plenty of witnesses to confirm that. The picture shows a huge poster hung over a stage. It has been explained several times that this is okay according to the Israeli law. First, if the the picture is a panorama of the whole room and the poster is just one item, then it is okay to publish the picture. Secondly, it is highly unlikely that the poster was reused, and therefor it qualifies as "placed permanently" (it is like a statue made of ice - it is placed permanently but will melt soon). Drork (talk) 12:25, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
As you maybe did see, I restored the image :)
But I have to agree with Drork that it is a Poster and not a live feed.. Huib talk 16:22, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
OK - i misunderstood you - it is a poster in the background but the pictuer was taken by someone at the event, and not by someone viewing it on television. Deror avi (talk) 18:20, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
OK solved now. Huib talk 18:50, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
This shows that it is better to let such deletion requests have their normal discussion time of a week. By closing early, discussion moves to other places, and even off-wiki. So I do not quite understand why the image was undeleted. Who is this "Cary", that you are referring to here? /Pieter Kuiper (talk) 09:50, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
It was even better to not nominate the image, it do look a little bit that you are hunting to find wrong photo's.
But I don't see why I need to explain to you who Cary is, I am free to ask the opinion about the handling of the Deletion Request to everyone. And I didn't move the discussion to outside Commons I was just asking for some opinions. Huib talk 18:38, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
You gave no reason in copyright law for undeleting the Kadima image, you just referred to a conversation with "Cary" (whom I now suspect is User:Bastique, who closed all the other DR:s of pikiwiki copyright problems with "keep"). And you still give no reason in copyright for your decision. As for "better not to nominate" - you just nominated to delete the photo of a man who died 1880! /Pieter Kuiper (talk) 20:42, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
I nominated it to get more info, and I know it will not get deleted. Bad faith nominations like you did are never the way to go. Huib talk 04:18, 12 June 2009 (UTC)

Closing active discussion without consensus

Hello. It looked to me like discussion was still ongoing, vigorously, and a consensus had not yet been reached. The discussion was only some 3 days old. I therefore disagree with your closing discussion and deleting the image at Commons:Deletion requests/File:Alan dershowitz by Latuff.jpg reopen. I have made a listing at Commons:Undeletion_requests/Current_requests#File:Alan_dershowitz_by_Latuff.jpg. Thank you. Cheers, -- Infrogmation (talk) 23:24, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

If you don't like my discission its fine, no problem at all. But you need to respect my opinion on a deletion request. It was closed after a discussion and I believe there was enough info to close it, your not allowed to just undelete a image after a discussion you don't like. Huib talk 04:21, 12 June 2009 (UTC)
Take a look. I did not unilaterally undelete it. (I did not undelete it myself at all.) I thought you closed the discussion prematurely, so I went through procedures. 2 other admins have agreed with me. The discussion was therefore reopened and the image undeleted as part of continuing the discussion. I don't think the issue is any lack of "respect". I think that you, like I and all other admins, are human and sometimes imperfect. It seemed to me that closing the request so quickly while there was still very active ongoing discussion was incorrect, so I brought this to your attention here and listed my opinion at the undeletion requests per above. I think it is the nature of the Wiki that we can have our work here second guessed by other participants, and on the whole let us hope the result will be better than what any one of us could do as an individual. I hope this clarifys things. Thanks and cheers, respectfully, Infrogmation (talk) 16:10, 12 June 2009 (UTC)

Re:File:Henry celebra la Liga de Campeones 2008-2009.jpg

Sorry, but when I uploaded that picture it was free licensed :S Lobo   (howl?) 13:48, 12 June 2009 (UTC)

When I reviewed the image it was marked as Noncommercial on Flickr, and there for not free enough for use on Commons.
I'm affraid that the time between the upload and check to long is sometimes and that in the meen time the license can change. :(
Feel free to remove the copyvio template from your talkpage.

A litlle bit too late, but I'd like to thank you for letting some fresh air into Commons. Sorry it did not last long, but anyway it was a really great and brave try! Best wishes.--Mbz1 (talk) 03:47, 13 June 2009 (UTC)

Hello Abigor, I will remake the logo with Photoshop, I understand that the current scanned image is a derivative work, even if the original comes from myself. I just have no means to access the original file since the PC on which I designed the logo is about 15 years old and in Germany, while I live in Japan. Sorry for the trouble.--Oriba (talk) 10:00, 15 June 2009 (UTC)

Type of Licensing for Logos?

Hello, Abigor.

How can I upload logo of company correctly, what type of Licensing I must choose?

Book covers, Cd covers, posters are all protected by copyrights. The only way to upload them on commons is to get permission from the original author or rights holder. That permission should be send to OTRS. When the receive the permission the will try to verify it and you will get a respond with a ticket number. When you place the ticket number on the image description page it will be fine.
Now I know its kind of hard to get the permission under a free license and most of the time you will not even get permission.
There is a other way, Some Wikis use a Fair use policy, Those project are listed here. On those project you can upload the image locally without any problems, and without copyvio. So please check of your project is listed there, and upload it locally or try to get permission.
But if you already have the permission please send it to OTRS so it can be verify, then I can undelete the image.
Huib talk 04:38, 17 June 2009 (UTC)
But if this logo is a registered trademark,
can I upload it to or I
can only upload it locally to

I'm kinda confused why you did this. Our template actually wasn't derived from the English Wikipedia's. If you look at the history (now completely wrong and confusing) you'll see that it didn't even look similar until very recently. Is there something I'm missing here? Rocket000 (talk) 13:41, 19 June 2009 (UTC)

Um, I have no idea why you imported various random en.wp templates' history... I'm guessing it was some kind of mistake or test... I hope. Rocket000 (talk) 13:51, 19 June 2009 (UTC)

Hi Rocket,

I was trying to import a userbox from the to commons but I imported all included templates by exident. Do you know how I can fix this? I did try undo and rollback but non of them work. This is a big mistake, I am very very sorry :( Huib talk 14:04, 19 June 2009 (UTC)

Unfortunately, we can't unmerge histories. It's not that big of a deal in this case, though. I just was concerned because I didn't know what was going on. :) Sometimes if a template you want to import makes calls to other templates we don't have, you can make them all one template by using Special:ExpandTemplates. Also, when importing things, make sure we don't already have a template with the same name but different code. That can cause major conflicts. What were you trying to get working here? Maybe I can help with that. Rocket000 (talk) 20:07, 19 June 2009 (UTC)
I was trying to get en:Template:User Wikipedian For working here, but how I try it doesn't work :( Huib talk 17:54, 22 June 2009 (UTC)
