File:Solmeta Geotagger N2 Kompass GPS on Nikon D300.jpg

Commons-emblem-issue.svg File:Solmeta Geotagger N2 Kompass GPS on Nikon D300.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue.

Was there a mistake I made with the former image I had uploaded with the same name? It was deleted by you saying "In category Copyright violations; not edited for 5 days" which was not clear to me at all. I myself took the photo and I wonder if i didn't fill the necessary spaces. I'm experienced enough to know that I shouldn't upload a copyrighted image here. So I re-uploaded the image. The same thing will happen again? I tried to fill all necessary spaces. I can't see a mistake... Thanks for your time. --Danbury (talk) 10:36, 31 October 2009 (UTC)

The problem with the file is that it is a COM:DW, you have made a picture from something that is copyrighted this means that you cant release the rights from your picture since the subject of the picture is still copyrighted.
Best regards,
Huib talk 13:16, 31 October 2009 (UTC)
  • Ok, I understood. So, is there a suitable template for the file i uploaded? Or is it impossible to upload such image. (I dont think it is) What should I do to keep that file here? --Danbury (talk) 14:20, 31 October 2009 (UTC)
I'm sorry but the only way to keep this file is to get written permission send to OTRS where the manafucture says that its okay to upload the file under a free license, otherwise it will be deleted again. Huib talk 05:25, 3 November 2009 (UTC)

LANIC image deletion

hi Abigor,

I saw that my jpg was deleted. The license for the image can be found on the english LANIC wikipedia entry. Please let me know what I need to do to get the image back. Hadynkihm (talk) 19:03, 2 November 2009 (UTC)

The File is a screenshot from a webpage, that means the website owner has all the rights for the page and since it show some copyrighted parts like a logo and a bookcover you can't just release it here on Commons.
Its possible that you can upload it on since they have a Fair use policy.
Best regards.
Huib talk 05:24, 3 November 2009 (UTC)

What was wrong with that file? It's extremely heavily used, particularly in protected blocking templates. Why was it deleted? — NickK (talk) 22:15, 2 November 2009 (UTC)

We spoke about this on irc :)

File:Discworld icon.svg

Could you pls tell me, which work was copyviolated by this file? Cos afair, a concept or fanart is not a subject to copyrights as far as it doesn't excactly copy designs. Therefore "based on" or "inspired by" are completely OK. Moreover, as a CV reason was given: it is a derivative work from the "Discworld," a work of fiction by Terry Pratchett and as far as I know - Discworld is a series of books and it's kind of difficult to CV text with images... Additionally I wasn't informed at all, that file uploaded by me is considered as problematic and it was deleted in almost no time. So, if you don't mind, pls restore this image, link it back to all articles/pages that it was used in and if you still consider it as a CV, but you don't have direct proofs (like the original image), start a deletion request procedure, which should be done in a first place. Thank you. Masur (talk) 19:49, 3 November 2009 (UTC) ps. pls reply in my user talk page - thanks Masur (talk) 19:50, 3 November 2009 (UTC)

I did understand that the files where drawings from images in the book, but as I understand you correctly here its only text in the books and you created the files based on the text because that would make the files not a clear copyvio and than we could let them run for a Deletion request.
As far as restoring all the uses, the file wasn't in use I the tool we use for deleting them checks the uses, and I just checked the CommonsDelinker log, the file wasn't delinked so it wasn't in use at the time it was deleted, therefor I cant help you with restoring all uses if the Deletion Request will be closed as keep.
So please confirm that this warent drawings in the book but drawings based on info in the books,
Huib talk 21:18, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
1st of all, I havent created this file, but just uploaded it from our wiki. But I dont upload images, which legal status is fishy. And you speedy-deleted it, without any evidence that it is a CV - therefore you made a mistake. And I know that it is just a fanart (partially because I know Pratchett work very well and ilustration to his books). So pls restore it. And the most annoying thing was, that you havent even bother to ask before deleting it (and you probably saw, didnt you?, that it was uploaded by another Commons-admin). Aha, and the file was used. I know it, but dont remember where. Just remeber that it was on userpages and not in the main space. So pls restore it, where it is necessary. I also see, that you happend to delete two other Discworld-images, both of them, as far as I can see, being fanarts based on the text descriptions and not on any other visual source. So pls restore them as well and, if you still feel concerned about their legal status, trigger the deletion request procedure, which should happend in the beginning. It wasnt the case for the speedy-cv-deletion. Thank you. Masur (talk) 06:37, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
I didn't see that it was from a other admin, when you clean out the cats with speedy deletions you would know that the tool used therefor doesn't show the usernames from the uploader, and I don't know all the names from all the administrators here on Commons.
But we started here in a normal way and now you're telling me all the things that I am doing wrong, I didn't warn you but I didn't tag it either, you say it was in use the CommonsDelinker log say's it wasn't. I don't like you tone here on since you're pointing me all the mistakes I made I will follow the rules now. Please go to COM:UNDEL so other people can also comment on this matter like our policy Commons:Deletion_policy#Appeal is saying, and I don't want to make another mistake right :) Huib talk 17:43, 5 November 2009 (UTC)
Bad on you. Cos I simply restored it. And if you still have any problems with it - start the DelReq procedure, as you were supposed to do in the beginning. And really, your words like: when you clean out the cats with speedy deletions you would know that the tool used therefor doesn't show the usernames from the uploader are terryfing. Does it mean that you dont know what are you doing at all, just because you are using this and not the other tool, and you are not checking what are you deleting? Also the fact, that you still think that the file wasn't used. Funny, cos now it shows the usage. So now, if you delete sth by mistake and someone explain you how things are (I agree, maybe I should do it in a more polite way, however it wasnt as impolite as it could be ;) ), at least think how things can be fixed. Sending someone back to UNDEL rules its not the best way, if you arent 100% sure that you were right, isnt it?. And now imagine, that you deleted sth from a "simple user" not from someone who knows how Commons works. You should remember that. And that's what annoyed me. Cos there is enough talking about irresponsible Commons admins anyway. Masur (talk) 12:41, 6 November 2009 (UTC) ps. and there is always time to delete the file. Always. No haste is necessary.

Hello Huib, somebody made a drawing out of my image. I added the link to the drawing to the image's discussion's page. Could you please tell me, if you believe it is OK? Thank you.--Mbz1 (talk) 19:53, 5 November 2009 (UTC)

What a great photograph and what a great drawing but are super great work :)
If you're are asking if the link on the talkpage is okay I don't see a problem with it but I would think that it could be great to place it on the frontpage (file page) if you want.

Please rename File:—p-jred.png

wondering whether you could help out and process this renaming request. My browser did something weird, when I created the page and it's been sitting like that for a sufficient time. Thanks --Tauwasser (talk) 20:41, 6 November 2009 (UTC)

I did the requested move, but you do know that there wasn't a file there only a page?
Best regards,
Huib talk 21:10, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
Thank you very much. The page is supposed to be a redirect, so I couldn't leave the redirect and the request in there, because people would be moved all the time. It's in anticipation of 用-red.png, which shares the same stroke order with 用-tred.png. It's for the Commons:Stroke Order Project, particularly Commons:Stroke Order Project/Kangxi radicals/100-174 (№ 101). It's supposed to be like that in our project scope so newcomers don't get confused, though I'll probably upload the picture myself in a few weeks.
Only now do I see that a delete request might have been easier since I had to edit the page regardless :O Anyway, thank you and get well soon. --Tauwasser (talk) 01:01, 7 November 2009 (UTC)
Yeah I wasn't sure if I was mend to leave a redirect or not so I left one, it could have been smarter to supress the redirect but I couldn't have known that.
I'm starting to feel beter, its going slowly but its coming again :)

Hello again! Is it permissible to link from summary texts on image pages directly to articles in en.WP? [[:en:XXX etc... Best regards, SergeWoodzing (talk) 21:32, 10 November 2009 (UTC)

Its totally okay to link summeries directly to English Wikipedia or any other wikimedia project. It wouldn't be a problem at all :)
Best regards,
Huib talk 05:45, 11 November 2009 (UTC)
Thank you so much! Just to be sure before we go on linking another 1000 images or so, would you double-check the first 8 images here to make sure this kind of linking from the summary texts really is appropriate? Don't want to run into any snags as we go along. There have been huge debates on en.WP and sv.WP about linking some particular names from captions to articles there, and one name in particular has been black-listed on sv.WP = banned and removed from all captions (for reasons I do not quite understand). SergeWoodzing (talk) 15:54, 12 November 2009 (UTC)
Yes that would work without a problem, don't really think people could complain about that :) But when you're busy with those files could it be possible to translate the description also at the same time or is it bot work ? Huib talk 19:07, 12 November 2009 (UTC)
To Swedish you mean? SergeWoodzing (talk) 20:09, 12 November 2009 (UTC)

Yes indeed. Huib talk 20:17, 12 November 2009 (UTC)

I work with these things, and my view of your suggestion, especially taking into account the additional work needed, is that every little English lesson we give the Swedes will do them good. Hope you understand. Thanx again! SergeWoodzing (talk) 20:24, 12 November 2009 (UTC)
No problem, Commons is the reason why I can communicate in English now so learning English is also a good thing. Huib talk 14:42, 14 November 2009 (UTC)
That reply seriously warmed my heart. SergeWoodzing (talk) 15:59, 14 November 2009 (UTC)

O shit, nu je het zegt denk ik er ineens aan dat ik helemaal niet zomaar een ' kan plaatsen, ben een beetje dom geweest ;-) Huib talk 06:59, 15 November 2009 (UTC)
Unfortunately the script won't run now for all users whose browsers had gotten the buggy version. In other words: for the next 30 days, there will be no license checking for some uploaders. (Also no description checking, and so on.) People are already complaining... BTW, the change wasn't even necessary. This built-in text is used only if for some reason the *real* text from MediaWiki:UploadFormPreviewOverwriteError‎ cannot be found. Interface text modifications of this upload script never need a code change; it can all be done on-wiki in MediaWiki-messages. Lupo 10:41, 15 November 2009 (UTC)
Yeah sorry, I just did a edit protected request for that page and the user requesting the edit is very good with mediawiki pages, its to bad that in has gone wrong :( But yeah its kind of learning the hard way this way. Huib talk 11:08, 15 November 2009 (UTC)
Sorry that I got you into all these troubles. I could have mentioned that I skipped the ' on purpose. Thanks again for updating the messages. I think it's still helpful that the back-up message is up-to-date too. -- User:Docu at 13:39, 15 November 2009 (UTC)

File:Wristwatch spare parts.jpg

Dear Abigor,

Please tell me something. This image was first uploaded by the flickr upload bot. Does this prove the image was free at upload...or not? I see that you (Sterkebak) in the image history then made a clean up edit but did not fail it. It seems to me then that the image was OK at upload. If my understanding is correct, please let me know and I will pass it. Am I right? Regards, --Leoboudv (talk) 08:08, 15 November 2009 (UTC)

Hi Leoboudv,
I made a clean up edit because it was failed according to the Flickr upload bot, so I checked it and placed the correct license on it. I thought that the Flickr bot would come by and mark it as reviewed but it didn't
A other bot came by and placed a new Flickrreview template on it, while the file was already a long time on Commons, this totally messed up the system and it made us almost lose a image.
I have marked it as reviewed now :)
Best regards,
Huib talk 08:21, 15 November 2009 (UTC)
  • Thank You for acting. Unfortunately Admin MGA73 had to do the mass review with his bot because there still hundreds of images that were never reviewed since uploaders forgot to order a {{flickrreview}} I think MGA73's bot found several thousand unmarked images. He even catalogued all the FlickLickr images here which is useful since a future bot can avoid reviewing such photos. It was puzzling to me here that the upload bot should have placed a flickrpass mark and yet this did not happen. Regards, --Leoboudv (talk) 08:31, 15 November 2009 (UTC)

File:Bellinzone-coat of arms.svg

Hi, is there a specific reason why you wouldn't want to delete and restore this file? According to a post on the VP, we already had complaints because of its inaccuracy. I could go through the various articles manually, but it's much quicker to let commons delinker do it. -- User:Docu at 13:39, 15 November 2009 (UTC)

Yeah I had a specific reason to decline, but I guess we can work it out here.
I rather don't act when I'm not sure about something, because I don't want to get in problems but you are just asking to delete it, keep it deleted for 10 minutes and undeleted right?
I'm sure there will be people complaining when I do it, so if you got my back I can delete :-)
Best regards,

This DR & another DR

Dear Abigor,

This 2 month old DR above should really be closed as delete. Admin Captain tucker has tried to reach the author with no success. It has been in limbo for quite some time now. Secondly this DR by me can be closed as keep. The flickrowner licensed it as cc by sa. It is indeed a beautiful photo. Regards, --Leoboudv (talk) 05:50, 16 November 2009 (UTC)

I have deleted the first one, and closed the DR.
I have marked the second one as kept, and it is always nice to keep files instead of deleting them.
I will try to do some old dr's tonight, there are way to much old DR'S

deleted pic

Hello, Abigor.

I'm sorry you are experiencing health issues, but also I am glad to notice they did not prevent you from working for the benefit of Wikicommmons.

As you deleted the picture of Getúlio Vergas and Gen. Edgar Facó, the only one I had posted here, up to now, I would love to hear your reasons... You might, at least, have left me a note telling me about it. Do I sound as if I were whining? Well... I'm not.

Imagine instead a cheerful and puzzled tone.

That copy of the picture is dated from 1940; date written on it's back by the general's daughter Elda. Is that the problem? Of course, it just "might" be from 1939... when it would be free to be posted anywhere by anyone. Should I wait 2 months and repost it? Or should I choose another one, a year older? Pity, the dictator Vargas won't be in any other. I don't believe anyone knows who took the picture. As far as I know, the owners of the picture are the members of the Facó family.

Or was it some other problem?

thank you 4 your attention!

--Betty VH (talk) 19:22, 17 November 2009 (UTC)

Hi Betty,
I have deleted the file because it didn't have a license, and its very important on Commons that files have a license because the license shows how the file can be used, what kind of attribution is needed and that kind of things.
The file has been tagged with {{nld}} on 10 - 11 - 2009 and from that moment you had 7 days to fix the problem, and those days ended to day, so I deleted it.
Feel free to reupload the file if you attached a good license to it. I would advice you to read on COM:L to know what kind of licensing is accepted and what license is the best for your file.
When needed I can email you the file if you don't have it anymore but therefor please send me a email so I have your email adress, my mail can be found on my userpage.
Best regards,

Copyright johndwyer.jpg

Hi Abigor:

Thanks for taking time to check the copyright of images in Wikipedia. I realise this must be a time-consuming task.

I am Professor John Dwyer and I own the copyright of my picture at my university profile This copyright is explicitly stated there.

If the wording is incorrect, viz. "Permission is given by the author to use this photo for any purpose provided that legal requirements are met", please advise me on the correct wording to use at

Thank you.

Wiki Ref:

Hello John,
You are right that the checking of the copyright on files takes a lot of time, I think the most of the administrators spend a lot of time on this and it isn't a real job that people like.
I noticed that there was a note on the page that says Permission is given by the author to use this photo for any purpose provided that legal requirements are met but there is no note about what kind of legal requirements there are and later on the page I find the note that says © Copyright 2009 Roehampton University. All rights reserved. and that makes it kind of confusing.
Probably the best way to continue is that you send a email to to permissions-en[at]wikimedia[dot]org where you state what kind of requirments must be met, that way we have the requirements archived in our system and it can easily be checked by us.
I know that this sounds like a difficult way but we at Wikimedia are very serious about copyrights and we don't want to see that somebody gets in trouble because he used the picture that was visible on Commons.
After the Wikimedia team has received the email, they will undelete the file and email you back. If you have any questions or need help just ask and I will do my best to help you.
Huib talk 17:51, 17 November 2009 (UTC)

OK will do, John.

Okay thanks for your understanding :) Huib talk 17:59, 17 November 2009 (UTC)

Hi Permissions: Regarding my photos:- johndwyer.jpg (attached) and John Dwyer.jpg (attached):- "Permission is given by the author to use these pictures in the public domain for any purpose". Thank you. John Dwyer copy: Abigor

Hello, you commented out a {{no license}} template that I had moved from File:Portal-puzzle.svg to File talk:Portal-puzzle.svg, but now Davidgothberg (talk · contribs) has reinstated that template in File:Portal-puzzle.svg, saying that my move to the talk page was out of process. I don't know what the process is (I asked Davidgothberg, but he did not reply). Could you please let me know how it works? Obviously I don't think there is a copyright problem here because the idea of a picture puzzle icon cannot be copyrighted, and obviously Davidgothberg disagrees, but what I don't understand is the procedure by which this disagreement gets resolved. Thanks. Eubulides (talk) 21:55, 19 November 2009 (UTC)

I transcluded it because the talkpage will break the program we work with for checking those files, I think the {{nld}} isn't the right way to go with this file, its heavy used and therefor a normal DR could be better so more people can comment on it. Huib talk 11:04, 20 November 2009 (UTC)
I just noticed that there is a DR, I will respond there later on this week. Huib talk 11:04, 20 November 2009 (UTC)

Renaming certain categories

I've started linking from image pages and am enjoying that work very much. While I am at it, I have realized that I would love to get a number of categories renamed so that they are more consistent in name format with others in the same subject groups. This desire of mine pertains especially to several of the subcategories listed under those of the kings and queens and princes and princesses of Sweden where the inconsistencies are confusing and disturbing. Is this a hard thing to do? Can I send you a proposed list by email of how this would look if we can do it? Can you help me with it? I know nothing about bots - might such a thing help? SergeWoodzing (talk) 22:52, 17 November 2009 (UTC)

Hi Serge,
Sorry that you needed to wait almost 3 days for a answer, but I wasn't feeling that good and wasn't really active here on Commons.
My main work on Commons is patrolling the recent uploads and deleting stuff, I do not know much about categories, but I think you can find all the information you need here.
The move self is bot work, its not needed to recat all the files by hand, we have some very usefull bots for that :)
Best regards,

Thank you! I will post my question at Commons:Categories for discussion and see what happens. SergeWoodzing (talk) 22:03, 20 November 2009 (UTC)

I have a problem finding the file you mean, so I cant help you without the relevant information.

file:flag of the United States.svg

Don't see the point in protecting it (again). If anyone really wanted to, they could easily replace every instance of it with something else without having access to the file. ¦ Reisio (talk) 05:03, 21 November 2009 (UTC)

Hi Reisio,
I also think protection isn't really needed but it is kind of protocol because it is used on more than 50.000 articles, maybe even close to 100.000 and it can cause a lot of damage if a vandal clicks the American flag and vandals it here on Commons. And the main problem isn't even the vandalizing but the rendering, it could bring the server down because it have to replace all the uses twice.
The file is now semi protected and I guess I can keep it that way just to see how it goes.
Thanks for the fix.

If you can, please mark these 2 images that I transferred to Commons.

Thank You, --Leoboudv (talk) 07:19, 21 November 2009 (UTC)

I have marked them for you, nice work :-)
All the best,
Huib talk 08:28, 21 November 2009 (UTC)
  • Thank you. They are good images indeed! On this image: File:Sumidero ecotourism reserve.JPG I saw that the flickrowner (J. Dwyer) had deleted the images on many many flickr linked photos from photos at wikipedia but she missed this one. So, I thought it was better to get it marked as soon as possible...just to be safe. With kind Regards, --Leoboudv (talk) 09:44, 21 November 2009 (UTC)

Creeton Interlace Fragments

Please could you reinstate this file? Isn't it polite to leave a reminder for the uploader if you find a recently uploaded file that's missing essential permissions? Although I believe I did put the full permissions, as I uploaded it at the same time as two other files which have full Public Domain permission and are my own work. I think if you check back you will find that it said:

Source My own digital photograph

Author SiGarb

Permission (Reusing this image) Own work, all rights released. This version of the image is in the Public Domain. If it is used outside Wikipedia, a photographer's credit (Simon Garbutt) would be appreciated!

It can actually take a fair amount of time to prepare such a composite photo and write a comprehensive description for it, and no time at all for someone to overzealously delete it. Thank you so much. SiGarb (talk) 16:44, 21 November 2009 (UTC)

I have restored the file, but there is still a kind of problem with it, because you say that the file is {{PD-self}} but you would like {{Attribution}} so it isn't clear what kind of license you want, so please add one of the two templates I just give to the file.
I'm sorry to hear that you didn't get a notice on your talkpage, it was tagged by a bot and normally he always notifies the uploader, I guess something went wrong and its really to bad that you didn't know about the problem.
Feel free to ask more questions to me when needed,

Unblocking Pieter Kuiper

Would you consider granting this request? He did try to engage in a dialogue rather than reverting Mbz1, but she simply ignored and removed his comment (twice). –Tryphon 20:18, 22 November 2009 (UTC)

Hi Tryphon,
I'm sorry to say but I will not unblock Pieter, Pieter should know when he walks on the line of good and bad he would get his fingers burned sometime, and he has been so many times lucky, that it would be good to be not lucky for a time.
But feel free to unblock, I will not see your unblock as overrulling my actions.
Best regards,
Huib talk 20:26, 22 November 2009 (UTC)
I think I will unblock him then; it's not a question of good and bad, punishing or rewarding users. A block is just a way of preventing someone from acting against policy. As far as edit war over this image goes, I don't think a block is still needed at this point. –Tryphon 20:36, 22 November 2009 (UTC)

Hi Abigor, do you mind if I unblock Mbz1? Please take a look at my comment at COM:AN/U#Edit warring on categories. Cheers, AFBorchert (talk) 23:29, 22 November 2009 (UTC)

I do not mind if you unblock her, I had already email contact with Mila.

It was kind of a server error, or something like that, I tried to clean it up but than the whole file got deleted, so I guess its for the best to just leave the 4 uploads there :) Huib talk 12:22, 25 November 2009 (UTC)

File:Poltava battle.jpg

Hello Abigor. Why did you do a universial replace of this image? It is not an exact duplicate or scaled-down version of File:Lomonosov Poltava 1762 1764.jpg. I personally prefer the former used in the no.wikipedia articles about the battle of Poltava, so I reverted CommonsDelinker's edits. Regards, --Kjetil_r 16:22, 23 November 2009 (UTC)

I guess I missed that one, when you do over a 100 of those a day its kind of difficult to keep paying close attention, thanks for the fix and sorry for the inconvenience. Huib talk 18:35, 24 November 2009 (UTC)

World Digital Library undeletion

Hi there. I notice you closed the following undeletion request as "not done": Commons:Undeletion_requests/Archive/2009-11#File:World_Digital_Library_-_Launch.png. However, I believe your reason (that the OTRS permission had not arrived) was not correct; I forwarded it on the 8th as I mentioned there, and another OTRS volunteer confirmed that it had arrived underneath your statement. If it's not too much trouble, could you revisit this? Thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide. -kotra (talk) 03:01, 25 November 2009 (UTC)

If I may answer this one: don't worry, not done just means pending until OTRS clears it. But as soon as they check and validate the mail they received, they will undelete the images. It will just take some more time because there's a small backlog, but it will be dealt with eventually. –Tryphon 08:30, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
Yeah like Tryphon is saying :)
I kind of mend it will be handled if OTRS permission arrives on the file, so it will be undeleted or a new request will be made after a OTRS volunteer says its okay :) Huib talk 09:18, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
Ah, ok. Thanks, and sorry for the misunderstanding! -kotra (talk) 16:33, 25 November 2009 (UTC)

Every Picture deleted from Account:Mashiprecords

This pictures are a work from me. Please bring it back to my side. Every picture I uploaded its a work from me! Greetings from Germany

You're uploads where covers for music files, and its impossible for use to check if you are really the person working for this company or not, so we need OTRS permission to use those files under a free license.
I kind of understand if you think why? Its simple, if you upload a file here on Commons it means that everybody can use that file either for personal use or commercional use to protect the companies we decided that we need to verify who is uploading that stuff, you dont want people uploading your covers and let other bands use it without your knowledge right?
So you should send a email to permissions-commons(at) and that email should look like:
I give permission to use the files uploaded from our company under a <place license here>, I understand that I give permission to use this file for commercional use, personal use, share-a-like under te conditions as told in the license.
Best regards,
<name> <function> <company>
If you send this email from a mailadres that can be matched with the company name the OTRS volunteers will undelete the files for you.
If you need any help please feel free to ask.

Editing other people's comments

Hi Abigor, is there a specific reason why you edited my comment? -- User:Docu at 11:03, 25 November 2009 (UTC)

Hi Docu,
I only moved your comment because it was on the wrong place, you opposed under the == neutral == header, I moved it to the right spot so its easier to check the count.
Best regards,
Huib talk 11:05, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
I'd rather have it under the neutral header. I'm really neutral on the whole thing in general. Do you mind if I place it back? BTW the standard layout for these pages is less divisive. Do you think we should change it to that? (Look at some of the other requests) -- User:Docu at 11:14, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
I rollback my changes, but why place a oppose under the neutral header, it isn't like its going to count less because its under a header.
I noticed also that this is a new style, I kind of like the new page, more easy to check the votes. Huib talk 12:07, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
Not sure if it really helps, e.g. not all 'oppose' are necessarily being counted, wherever their placement. -- User:Docu at 12:39, 25 November 2009 (UTC)

Would you be kind enough to explain why you deleted the picture blocki_park_paryz.jpg despite my written explanation about the licencing? I can give my own photo for public use can't I? I asked for possible help - would it not be fair to help an unexperienced contributor instead of deleting? -- 22:03, 25 November 2009 (UTC)

The picture you made is a COM:DW because you made a picture from a painting and most paintings are copyrighted therefor it was speedy deleted.
I suggest you could read that page and send permission to COM:OTRS when its your painting.
Best regards,

This DR

Can you examine this DR? Are there are grounds to keep it? I do not know of any flickr owners (except museums and state archives) who upload 53 year old photos through flickr, do you? Commons:Deletion requests/Images of Category John Quinlan (wrestler)

Just thought I would also post this on your talk page to ensure they are properly deleted. Thank you so much for your input last time. Fewimage files were not deleted last timethat should have been.....

Images of Category:John Quinlan (wrestler)

These images should have been deleted already with all the rest but they were titled wrong in the previous deletion request so they are unfortunately still there. These are the correct titles above. They should have been titled correctly in the first place in:

Commons:Deletion requests/Images of Category John Quinlan (wrestler)

The reason for the deletion of these image files is the same as all of the image files in the category above.....uploaded without proper consent of owner. Deletion of these image files ASAP would be greatly appreciated! Thank you for your time and appreciated effort along with the rest of the editors here on commons,

Jaderocker (talk) 14:44, 27 November 2009 (UTC)

Sorry to keep you waiting, but I deleted those files and closed the deletion request.

2nd opinion

Is this out of line? I don't want to edit war. I've seen the revert comment. Comments outside (below) the archived discussion, clearly marked as such should be OK, no? (I'm watching this page, Huib.)--Elvey (talk) 11:19, 28 November 2009 (UTC)

sorry to keep you waiting for a answer :(
I moved your comment to the talkpage, I'm not sure if it would be a problem to have it on the main deletion request page but comments outside the {{delh}} and {{delf}} seem to break our bot and archives. (Somebody told that on IRC, don't blame me if it incorrect).
I wouldn't have a problem with it myself, but the policy say you cant edit a closed request and some people take it very serieus :(

Image deletion

Hello! Could you tell me why you deleted File:Map of comune of Pescopennataro (Isernia, Italy) light.svg (this is the deletion log)? You wrote that the file was a duplicate of itself! :-) Maybe you meant it was a duplicate of File:Pescopennataro light.svg? This is the image I wanted to be deleted, but maybe I forgot to put the appropriate template in it. My mistake, sorry! ;-) Now I re-uploaded the file and put a {{duplicate}} template in the other one. Sorry again for the mistake, best regards! P.S.: I am the uploader of both these files, with my own account or with my bot, I don't remember. :-) Bye! -- Vonvikken (talk) 16:03, 30 November 2009 (UTC)
