Hello, ArnoldPlaton!

Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

Map edit

Hello! Thank you the new maps. Do not you don an article in Romanian about the republic? Doncsecz (talk) 08:18, 1 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

Badname edit

To make things a little easier, if you are the uploading contributor and you have again uploaded an image, then if you tag the first copy with Badname we can more quickly check and delete. The check process that we use for Duplicate is a little more involved and presumes that they are different people's image, and some judgement is required.  — billinghurst sDrewth 11:49, 23 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

The ethnic map of Thailand is great, I hadn't seen a map like this so far. However, I see a little typo, the city of Udon Thani in the northeast is spelled as Ubon Thani. Check the other 1974 map, you will see the error. Further south there is another city, Ubon Ratchathani, which I think created the confusion.

Septinsular Flag edit

Hello! You've done a great job with the flag! It's way better than the previous one! But I have some comments to make. First of all the face of the lion should be human, actually St' Marc's head and it should look like the emblem of the Septinsular Republic, or modeling it after the emblem or the flag of the Republic of Venice should be even better, as the septinsular flag was created after the flag of the Venetian Republic. Finally, although a detail, but an essential one, the arrows should be taller and should bare a banner which reads 1800, the date of the establishment of the Republic; you can see that in the septinsular emblem. This last detail is not featured in the Union Jack version of the flag, which was used during the British period. Amicably, --RoseAphro (talk) 11:30, 24 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

PBUH edit

Hi Arnold! What does it mean "PBUH" in File:PBUH.svg? What about a more meaningful filename like File:Sala allahu alayhi wa sallam (vector).svg? -- Basilicofresco (msg) 07:41, 23 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

Mistake Map edit

Hello ArnoldPlaton, i have found misktake in your Kartvelian Languages map. Geograpic location of Georgia and other counties (their borders , regions and rivers location) are wrong. For example border between Georgia and Russia goes on Greater Caucasus mountains, but in your map Greater Caucasus mountains are far northerly than in reality. You wrote that your map based on Colchis_And_Iberia map observe it and your map and you'll understand your mistake. And please replace it with correct map :)--Giorgi Balakhadze   14:17, 20 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

 • I see what you mean, but it wasn't clear at first. On future ocassions, being a little bit more specific then "observe it and you'll understand" will help a lot. I fixed the map. If there is anything else you see, please let me know. - ArnoldPlaton (talk) 14:55, 20 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

mistake in flood map on balkan edit

I know that u do not know, but there were many floods in Croatia as well, in village Gunja, Pleternica, Požega, etc..so you should put it on your map. Based on this map, flood only happened in Serbia and BiH, but it hapend in Croatia too. You are giving the wrong picture, based on your little mistake. In Gunja 9 people died, i think it is good enough to place it on the map..your information is based on call for help, which our premier did not sent..do not know why..

Unauthorized usage of my map edit

Mr. Platon. You have copied one of my maps, removed any reference to my name and my copyright, placed your own name as the author of the map, and posted it here on Wikimedia--whence, all over the internet. The map I am referring to is : Kurdish languages map.svg. Please remove your name, add mine, or remove it altogether. M. Izady

 • Mr. Izady. The map you are refering to is not a copy, but a personal work based off the map found in Le Monde Diplomatique (2007), and as such I have credited and linked the source of the original map. You name did not appear on the original map. See Souce section under the map on this page. Also, the description section credits your 1998 map, including a link.-ArnoldPlaton (talk) 07:33, 18 March 2015 (UTC)Reply
