Categorisation of automobiles by specific implemented engine edit
I guess you know why I am here, it's about the Category:BMW 330 and it's subcategory. Please explain me your plan behind your idea. Which ways do you have to tell that a 3 Series in a picture you categrised is in this category is a 330?
Also how did you think removing the files I categories to Category: Volkswagen Golf VII facelift and Category: Jaguar at the Emirates Airline Invitational at Yas Links, Abu Dhabi - Febuary 2011 was a good idea? Did you ever think of the consequences there?
Because I didn't talk to you beforehand, there is no reason to do the same things I did on a higher level.
Please answer the questions I asked in this section, so may editing categories on files works out better between us in the future. Thanks --Steinfeld-feld (talk) 21:54, 22 July 2017 (UTC)
- As a newbie without much experience: Why did you empty the Category:BMW 330 and it's subcategories with asking ans without explanation???

- Well, how about looking at the filenames???

- File:BMW 330Xi Touring E46 (5918441718).jpg
- Category:BMW 330i (E90)

- Who do you think you are that you revert my edits for without giving proper reasoning. The batch processing of filename based edits show how knowledgeable you are, the filenames can be wrong too. Ever thought about that. Now go on, take 316s, 318s, 320s, ... . We don't categories by engine versions because they are mostly pointless.to the look of a car. We go by generations of automobile models. If that isn't enough facelifts of models. Sportier versions of automobiles, like BMW Ms, Mercedes Benz AMGs, Vokswagen GTIs, VW Rs. More elegant versions (eg. Mercedes Maybach W222s). Maybe it's time to talk with the admins of the Commons about you. --Steinfeld-feld (talk) 16:07, 23 July 2017 (UTC)
- Unfotunately and obviously your lack of knowledege about the basic principles of cooperative editing on commons makes this situation (that you hvae provoked with your unreasonable behaviour) a bit complicated. My advice is that you read Commons:Categories very carefully and reach out to users before you remove files and destroy entire category trees that were in accordance with the rules here on commons and well maintained. Yours sincerely.--AutomobilePassion (talk) 16:59, 23 July 2017 (UTC)
- @AutomobilePassion: What about the categories I founded Category: Volkswagen Golf VII facelift and Category: Jaguar at the Emirates Airline Invitational at Yas Links, Abu Dhabi - Febuary 2011 you orphaned files because you just did a cat-a-lot batch edit without looking on the single files. Please don't tell me you set them for a speedy deletion because they are speedy deleted now. They were useful for the purpose and possibly only on the wrong position but you could have corrected them without emtiing them. Please don't accuse me on unreasonable behaviour since yours was unreasonable too. --Steinfeld-feld (talk) 17:29, 23 July 2017 (UTC)

Notification about possible deletion edit
Some contents have been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether they should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at their entry.
If you created these pages, please note that the fact that they have been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with them, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues. |

File:At Porsche 992 Launch (6) (47387972282).jpg has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.
The file you added has been deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you believe that the deletion was not in accordance with policy, you may request undeletion. (It is not necessary to request undeletion if using VRT; the file will be automatically restored at the conclusion of the process.) Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

BMW F22 M2 has been listed at Commons:Categories for discussion so that the community can discuss ways in which it should be changed. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry. If you created this category, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for discussion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it. If the category is up for deletion because it has been superseded, consider the notion that although the category may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new category. In all cases, please do not take the category discussion personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you! |

- Hi, thanks for the hint. The given rationale is correct, hence I moved the category to Category:BMW F87 M2.--AutomobilePassion (talk) 14:21, 15 August 2020 (UTC)
