2012 Picture of the Year: A pair of European Bee-eaters in Ariège, France.
Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the 2013 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the eighth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2013) to produce a single Picture of the Year.
Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year are all entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.
For your convenience, we have sorted the images into topical categories. Two rounds of voting will be held: In the first round, you may vote for as many images as you like. The top 30 overall and the most popular image in each category will continue to the final. In the final round, you may vote for just one image to become the Picture of the Year.
Question Could you increase the contrast, and maybe saturation too, please--Jebulon 22:55, 29 August 2015 (UTC) Done --C messier 09:32, 30 August 2015 (UTC) Support Good, IMO.--Jebulon 21:07, 6 September 2015 (UTC)
Comment There are (minor) CAs and IMO the branches without any tree top left and right are disturbing.--XRay 14:07, 12 September 2015 (UTC) Done --C messier 17:45, 12 September 2015 (UTC)
Thanks. IMO OK now.--XRay 08:04, 13 September 2015 (UTC)
Comment I would cut the right side a bit more. Otherwise a bit noisy but it would be OK for QI I think. --Hockei 16:30, 9 September 2015 (UTC) Done --C messier 18:53, 10 September 2015 (UTC) Neutral You didn't crop the right side but you enlarged the left side instead. And I wonder why you changed the colour. --Hockei 19:24, 10 September 2015 (UTC) Done Sorry, about the color, changed it by mistake, is this the crop you prefer? --C messier 17:33, 12 September 2015 (UTC) Support Not quite, but OK. --Hockei 18:07, 14 September 2015 (UTC)
I like it, but the inscription in disturbing. A mask should help.--Jebulon 19:54, 22 September 2015 (UTC)
Cloned it out. --C messier 20:32, 22 September 2015 (UTC) Support--Jebulon 09:20, 23 September 2015 (UTC)
Weak Support Good quality. Disturbing shadows at the left and right and IMO minor CAs. --XRay 12:20, 25 September 2015 (UTC) Comment The perspective of the pedestal should be corrected, and the plaque readable... But what a beauty !--Jebulon 20:25, 25 September 2015 (UTC) Comment I don't think the pedestral was rectilinear. I used the floor tiles and two vertical lines now cropped to correct any distortion. --C messier 00:32, 26 September 2015 (UTC)
I love it, but oir you clone out the plaque, of you keep it in whole (IMO). The fact it is cropped is a bit disturbing, also the unsharpness of the text. You have some chromatic noise in the background at left. Easily correctible.--Jebulon 16:53, 23 September 2015 (UTC) Done --C messier 23:32, 24 September 2015 (UTC) Support--Jebulon 20:08, 25 September 2015 (UTC)
slight magenta fringe at top.--Jebulon 16:56, 23 September 2015 (UTC) Done Propably, very hard to detect, even at 800%. --C messier 23:32, 24 September 2015 (UTC) Support I saw it on my tablett...I've added some categories to.--Jebulon 20:08, 25 September 2015 (UTC)
Two little issues to fix, elsewhere good. I left annotations. --Cccefalon 04:15, 21 September 2015 (UTC) Done --C messier 19:51, 22 September 2015 (UTC) Support Thanks! --Cccefalon 05:14, 25 September 2015 (UTC)
Strikes me as slightly underexposed. Crisco 1492 01:57, 25 September 2015 (UTC) Done --C messier 15:30, 26 September 2015 (UTC) Support Makes me dream of your country (no need...) Good now--Jebulon 19:26, 26 September 2015 (UTC)
Hi C Messier, first: sorry for not reviewing your enhancements earlier.
The reason for delay is, that I am still not convinced about the sky but I could not figure out, how you fixed the issue and what is the reason for the blotched result. My guess is, that you just added partial blur because the result is looking like a stained sky. Not really nice to look at. However, I didn't wanted to decline without having this talk, because I observed already several times, that there is chroma noise problem when you have a bright, blue sky in your images.
Actually, I cannot give you a solution for the problem. If using LightRoom, I advised that you just raised the chromatic noise slider but for gimp I do not know, if such a gimmick is available. Cheers, --CEphoto, Uwe Aranas (talk) 15:47, 1 October 2015 (UTC)
Support Hi my best Greek. i did not saw that last time. I've registered the coordinates for my next trip to Athens, end of this month ! Oh, QI, by the way, even if i've had cloned out the tourist...--Jebulon 15:09, 1 October 2015 (UTC)
Could be cropped out almost until the bench, what do you think ?--Jebulon 16:13, 28 September 2015 (UTC) Done --C messier 15:33, 1 October 2015 (UTC) Support I think it is much more interesting now, thanks.--Jebulon 19:54, 3 October 2015 (UTC)
Comment Can you reduce the noise? --Code 06:06, 28 September 2015 (UTC) Done --C messier 12:34, 29 September 2015 (UTC) Comment Ok, but the horizon looks tilted ccw. Please correct this as well. Sorry that I didn't notice it before. --Code 08:08, 30 September 2015 (UTC) Done --C messier 15:23, 1 October 2015 (UTC) Support --Code 07:55, 3 October 2015 (UTC)
