Hello (hao ma),user:Yug told me you were interested in chinese calligraphy. Welcome aboard! My interest lies in etymology, but the fields are clearly linked. Have fun on wikipedia, anyway. Micheletb 05:07, 6 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

btw, I saw your questions to Yug on "how to choose" the "right" picture. Well - I just pick my own choice, looking at the one that will make the caracter evolution the most comprehensible: addition of parts, simplification of design... This means for instance that if all-but-one "bronze" characters are structurally identical to the "seal" ones, and the last one is clearly a transition between "seal" and "oracle", I will pick the exception, not the standard, because it will clarify the character evolution. This has its drawback, of course, since it tends to present a linear evolution instead of a series of parallel evolutions. (sigh - nothing's perfect...) Micheletb 05:24, 6 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

No group discussion, sorry. You can post questions on my page, or on Yug's, the answer comes within hours / days... Michelet-密是力 08:34, 7 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
  • You may want to create pictures showing the stroke order for various characters, see Category:CJK stroke order (still pictures or animated, pick your choice).
  • You may want to transform .gif pictures (pixels) into their .svg (vector) counterpart. see Commons:Ancient Chinese characters for a list of transformations to be made.
  • You may want to try your hand at some calligraphic animation, like the one here for 無 - on a case by case basis...
  • Since nobody in the group so far seems to bi chinese-fluent, you can have a look at the animations made so far and look for mistakes (for instance, there was IMHO some uncerrtainty with this one : Image:龜-bw.png compared to that one Image:龜-order.gif...)

...just state your fields of interests, there is plenty of interesting things to do. Michelet-密是力 12:02, 7 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Tutorial for ACC project : make SVG images edit

Tutorial for ACC project : make SVG images

  1. Choice a Chinese character (or Japanese Kanji, or korean Hanja).

Pick up the 4 good images (seal, bigseal, bronze and oracle styles)
  1. Find its data on http://www.internationalscientific.org (Richard Sears is ok to share his data)
  2. On seal script images, select the most interesting seal gif image.
    • Download this image on your computer, with the name : *-seal.gif
  3. Repeat this selection for bigseal, bronze, and oracle style.
    • For each style, save the selected gif image on you computer, with the following file names:
    • bigseal => *-bigseal.gif
    • bronze => *-bronze.gif
    • oracle => *-oracle.gif

Please keep the code name of images (i.e. J1233.gif => J12333 is the code name), this will be need later.

Work to converte gif to SVG, ie *-seal.gif to *-seal.svg
  1. Past the gif image files into Inkscape page (page size: 300px/300px)
  2. In Inkscape: Path > Trace bitmap (Shift+alt+B)
  3. Enlarge the SVG path to the file size.
  4. Center the svg image in the middle of the page (Shift+ctrl+A), verticaly + horizontaly.
  5. Look if all is fine, then delete the bitmap file.
  6. Save your file under the name *-seal.svg

Upload it to commons.

Upload it in SVG format is really important since SVG is scalable, while gif is not. Converte these image into SVG is almost easy, and make great benefits.

After the learning step (the 5 first characters converted), it will need you something such 3 to 5 minutes to converte such character into such improved SVG. The work may be faster if you don't improve it, and slower if you work on a more complex character.

Talks with yug edit

I answered to you there : User_talk:Yug#User:Chanueting.
If you have some ideas of improvement, please improve our Tutorial.
I also notice you that User:Rintojiang (zh-4, en-3) seems interesting to contribute to the ACC project.

In front of the fact that your chinese is pretty better than mine, can you find out some informations from http://www.Kangxizidian.comzh:康熙字典):
  1. which is the style of old characters show on the top of such images ? (seal ? great seal ? bronze ?). The answer is probably on the first page of the dictionary, these pages are also available on http://www.Kangxizidian.com , but in Chinese.
  2. Is it a scan of the 1715 edition, or a scan of an other re-edition ? and if so, which year of publication ?
I found a way/solution on the 214 radicals page, to note and see if others styles are available on Intsctfic.org.
After this 3 hours "study break", I go back to my books O.o --Yug (talk) 19:36, 16 April 2007 (UTC) 881Reply

Hello Chanueting,
I will not be able to work fine on any project here untill the ~1st August 2007, when I will (I hope), buy a new computer in Taiwan (I hope go to the Taipei 2007 wikimania).
My current computer is too old, and too slow (about 3 min to open a -seal.svg , and crach too often), and my brother stopped to share his powerfull PC (on which I did some conversions).
Moreover, I'm helping Richard Sear to find a way to converte automatically all his 100.000 (!!!) files into SVG. This could be really more convenient to us : our work will then be divide twice.
See User:Yug/ACC massive convertion

Hello Chanueting,
I answered to almost all your questions, and I also re-upload my 交 with the new and good name of 文-***.svg. I made the choice to give priority to my svg files, according to etymology :
Etymological explanation of Richard Sears: « Etymology : Remnant Primitive, a tattoo on a chest inside cloths - design - lines - words »

RfA page edit

Hi - as far as I am aware once a request for Adminship is placed, whatever happens to it, it is kept and protected when it is over (whether completed or withdrawn). There is nothing at all to prevent you from creating a new one any time you wish to. If this is not suitable I think it may be best if you approach a bureaucrat (maybe EugeneZelenko as they are fairly active on the requests page) to ask them about your withdrawn request page. Thanks --Herby talk thyme 12:09, 20 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fundraising Translators edit

Hi Chanueting, my name is Deniz and I am working for the Wikimedia Foundation during the 2010 Fundraiser. My job is to act as a liaison between the Chinese community and the Foundation. This year's fundraiser is intended to be a collaborative and global effort, we recognize that banner messages that perform well in the United States don't necessarily translate well, or appeal to international audiences. I'm contacting you as I am currently looking for translators who are willing to contribute to this project, translating messages into Chinese and suggesting messages that would appeal to Chinese readers on the Fundraising Meta Page. Please let me know if you'd be interested in helping with this project, and add your feedback to the proposed messages as well! I look forward to working with you during this year's fundraiser. --Dgultekin (talk) 22:32, 7 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for uploading File:斗-bronze-warring.svg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.

If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.)

If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there.

Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you.
