Thanks for uploading Image:KouznetsovPaintSki.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page. If the content is a derivative of a copyrighted work, you need to supply the names and a licence of the original authors as well.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag, then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use GFDL to release it under the multilicense GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or PD-self to release it into the public domain. See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find all your uploads using the Gallery tool. Thank you. Hello Domitori/Archive 2!

Thank you for providing images to Wikimedia Commons. Please keep in mind that images uploaded to Commons should be useful to all users of Wikimedia projects. This is possible only if the images can be found by other people.

To allow others to find the images you uploaded here, the images should be in some place that can be found by navigating the category structure. This means that you should put the images into appropriate topic pages, categories, optionally galleries, or both of them (see Commons:Categories). To find good categories for your images, the CommonSense tool may help.

You can find a convenient overview of your uploaded files in this gallery.

The important point is that the images should be placed in the general structure somewhere. There are a large number of completely unsorted images on Commons right now. If you would like to help to place some of those images where they can be found, please do!

Thank you. Sdrtirs (talk) 15:36, 2 August 2008 (UTC)

There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. It has been found that you've added in the image's description only a Template that's not a license and although it provides useful informations about the image, it's not a valid license. Could you please resolve this problem, adding the license in the image linked above? You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file. This page may give you more hints on which license to choose. Thank you.

Tip: Categorizing images

Hello, Domitori!

Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

BotMultichillT 05:47, 4 February 2009 (UTC)

I appreciate the reminder by yout bot, but I cannot categorize the last three images: my brauser crashes each time I open them.

For the same reason I cannot use these images in the wiki projects. If no other idea, I try to convert them to other format and try to load them again; may be, they will be usable. Domitori (talk) 12:12, 30 August 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading File:MarinaRomanova00.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the No permission since tag with on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.

Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own).

The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded (:File:MarinaRomanova00.jpg) and the above demanded information in your request.

Hello, 85.182.127.70 : I have arranged the copyright license in the files you have mentioned. I hope now they are ok. Please check also the catogories: I do not think that they are redoundant. Perhaps, we should remove the tag about the categories. Domitori (talk) 01:44, 18 March 2009 (UTC)

small corrections to description of File:Logez02.jpg

Greetings!

I have enjoyed viewing your creations, including File:Logez02.jpg attached to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Complex_logarithm. Thank you for sharing your work.

Looking at the explanation of the above file, I noticed a couple of points:

Funciton in the complex -plane. Should be "function"

Abscissa is , Ordinata is . I believe the standard English word is "Ordinate."

And where you write:

"blue is used for ."

I think you need to replace the "Im" symbol with the "Re" symbol.

I am not a mathematician (nor a physicist), but I am fascinated with complex numbers. Thank you for helping people like me understand them.

Best wishes,

File:RainbowMitaka20090719asmall.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Thank you!

Thanks for uploading File:Casino2367886.jpg. Jim, I hope you did wrong thing by an error. Could you help me please to transfer the content of the first version of Lena Hades to the Category:Lena Hades?

I did the best I could: I got permission from the author, I have specified the copyright license, and you did not ask any questions, nor explain why you are doung so. Domitori (talk) 16:39, 26 January 2013 (UTC)

A DR is simply a place to start discussion. As you see, the notice above is available in 47 languages. While you and I have English in common, our procedures anticipate that that will not always be the case. Also, because DRs are logged (Commons:Deletion_requests/2013/01/26), they are very public and allow for broad community discussion. Asking questions here, or on the image talk page, is essentially a private discussion. Since we discuss and/or delete about 2,000 images every day, we need an efficient way to deal with the volume and DRs are it. If the uploader needs further help, we are always willing to give it.
I have responded to the question at Commons:Deletion requests/File:LenaHasesSlim.jpg there. All such permissions must use the procedure at Commons:OTRS.
As for the images of her paintings, while I think that you are probably acting in good faith here, we have had many hundreds of cases where fans have uploaded images and faked permissions such as the ones you have included. As a result, in order to keep the images of her paintings, we will absolutely require a license using the procedure at Commons:OTRS, sent to OTRS directly from Hades at lena@hades.ru.
I have twice deleted your gallery page Lena Hades as being out of scope. Commons Galleries are solely for the purpose of displaying collections of images. Please don't create it again. If you have questions, you may ask them at the Village Pump in any of 42 languages or on my talk page. I will also watch for questions here on your talk page for at least a week. .     Jim . . . . (Jameslwoodward) (talk to me) 17:18, 26 January 2013 (UTC)
Jim, I had indicated the link, where Lena Hades explicitly gives permission to use her images. You had deleted that link and now you claim that the license may be fake. I guess, you cannot read Russian, but the statement by Lena is so simple, that you could use the automatic translation to see the true. Domitori (talk) 17:28, 26 January 2013 (UTC)
I tried to carefully explain that I did not think that this license was fake, but that because we have seen many fakes from others, we absolutely require permission using the procedure at Commons:OTRS, sent directly from the owner of the copyright, in this case lena@hades.ru.
We delete around 100 out of scope galleries every day. We do not read them, but simply delete anything that is not an appropriate Commons Gallery -- they must be a collection of images, not an article, and not any other text. Your gallery got absolutely standard treatment. With around 8,000 new pages every day including deleting around 2,000 of them, and fewer than 25 active Administrators to deal with them, we simply do not have time to deal carefully with material which is obviously out of scope. You may not like it -- I certainly don't -- but unless we force users to follow established procedures, we will be overwhelmed. .     Jim . . . . (Jameslwoodward) (talk to me) 20:18, 26 January 2013 (UTC)
"sent directly from the owner of the copyright, in this case lena@hades.ru" – She says, she had sent the message you mention. Check the mailbox, please. Domitori (talk) 13:02, 27 January 2013 (UTC)

OTRS has received a permission from a g-mail address purporting to come from Lena Hades. Aside from the fact that a g-mail address is unacceptable, it covers only one of the eight images of her work presently on Commons. It also claims that File:LenaHasesSlim.jpg is her own creation, which, as I have said several times, seems unlikely.

I have responded to the gmail message with the following:

Dear Ms. Hades:
Please
1) Send a new message from lena@hades.ru. This is for your own protection, as anyone can send a message claiming to be you from a gmail address such as the one above.
2) List the files by Commons filename. We need permission for the following:
3) Ask the actual photographer of
to send permission separately.
Jim

[message ends] .     Jim . . . . (Jameslwoodward) (talk to me) 14:12, 27 January 2013 (UTC)

Jim, did you get the reply? Domitori (talk) 20:38, 28 January 2013 (UTC)
Yes, all set now, thank you. I have put the appropriate OTRS template on all the files. .     Jim . . . . (Jameslwoodward) (talk to me) 13:54, 29 January 2013 (UTC)
All set? What is current status of other paintings (which are not yet recovered): Are they available under the same license? Domitori (talk) 19:03, 2 February 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading File:Fred.Eiseman.png. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.

If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with GFDL to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with PD-self to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.)

If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there.

Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you.

Bot 37.144.145.16

The 37.144.145.16 acts like a bot; it does not check for the licence, it just put the deletion mark. Please, look at its contribution. Domitori (talk) 22:39, 18 February 2015 (UTC)

I leaved a message in the User page of this IP address. If there is a human, he/shi will answer coherently. If not, it indicates this may be a bot, and I'll report it to the COM:AN. --Amitie 10g (talk) 03:10, 3 March 2015 (UTC)
Thank you for the help. I think, the most of files deleted, mentioned above, had been deleted without justification.
I think, these files are deleted for the political reasons. The bot from 37.144.145.16 is just one example of massive attack on wiki files.
The similar situation, and even worse, I observe at the Russian section of Wikisource.
The same happens in parallel in many wikis.
Tens of files had been removed with the (wrong) indication, that the publications at wiki violate the rights of the copyright owners. I consider this as trolling, as intentional misinformation: In the most of cases, the files had been loaded by request and by permission of the copyright owners; and the permissions had been copypasted to the discussion page.
The abilities of robots to nominate the files for the deletion and to vote for the deletion greatly exceed my abilities to trace this.
I do not know how to handle this. This looks as a sort of barbarianism, bolshevism, fascism.
The basic right of the copyright owners – right to distribute the information – is violated in a brutal form.
The indication on violation of the author rights is fraud, because it makes impression, that the copyright owners change their mind and do not want their files to appear at wiki. One example: Olga Ternovskaya could not get sufficient salary: her employer could think, that she has good income from the selling of the books of her father, and for this reason does not allow the texts and pictures from these books to appear in wikis. When Olga saw, that the files are removed, she upset, and sent the email to wiki with the permission form, in Russian. I do not know, if the she sent also the English version of her email with permission to use the files at wikimedia Common, but it seems to be vain: the letters by authors seem to be intercepted by the same trolls, who delete the files. The damage in the example above may count of order of 10^5 American dollars, and the corresponding claim may be under preparation for submission to the court. I think, it may be good idea to recover the files before that happens. Some of them are at wikimedia commons...
The emails from the copyright owner also have no effect.. May it have sense to send the printed versions of the permissions by the airmail? Which addresses should be used for this?
The bureacracy about loading (and even keeping) files in wikimedia projects become heavier and harder, than that at the submission of articles into the scientific journals. The assistance of some experienced specialists could help a lot. Domitori (talk) 05:40, 3 March 2015 (UTC)

I've been asked to Commons:License Review this photograph, and can't see permission on the page it comes from. If it's on a web page, can you link to it from the image file description? If it's in an email, can you forward that email to COM:OTRS (and ask them to put the OTRS stamp on the image file)? --GRuban (talk) 16:22, 26 January 2016 (UTC)

Dear GRuban. The permition came from the author of the picture. Currently I do not keep it, I expected the administration of Wikimedia to care about this. Instead, I observe the sabotage: the texts and the images are removed together with the permissions. Up to my knowledge, OTRS just does not work. I expect, this practice will destroy the Wikimedia projects and I see no way to prevent it. I explain the details below.
I have some experience with administrators of wikimedia common, as well as with administrators of other sections of wikimedia.
The experience is mainly negative. Due to my observations, I cannot anymore assume the good will of administrators.
I think, that administration of Wikimedia is corrupted at very high level, perhaps, at the level of bureaucrats.
I think, it is vain to present any proof to soviet veterans, who use the administrator privileges and demagogy in order to hide traces of their criminal, fascistic activity. Since few years ago, they often use the pretext of defence of rights of authors for frauds. I believe, they have huge foundation from killer, terrorist, KGBist, corruptioneer Vladimir Putin; and his ability to employ trolls greatly exceed my abilities to resist them. Recently, my point of view got confirmation, I mean
http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-35370819
http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-35385445
so, I think, I can express my point of view here.
I try to be more specific with respect to your request. Currently, the content you mention is copied to http://mizugadro.mydns.jp/t/index.php/File:C22693-gorbanevskaya02.jpg
and I hope, there is will be safer, than here. I see no way to defend it in Wikimedia; I expect, all the letters by the copyright owner will be just ignored, and I feel, it is not prudent to ask the author of this image to send such a letter again.
Some examples about another section of WIkimedia (namely, wikisource) are described in http://mizugadro.mydns.jp/t/index.php/Kouznetsov,_permission
I doubt, If I need to repeat the same argumentation with respect to any file or article loaded to other projects of wikimedia.
However, if you still have any questions with respect to my point of view, feel free to ask. Sincerely, Domitori (talk) 05:25, 27 January 2016 (UTC)
Unfortunately, we need the permission in written form. It can be on a web page, or in an email. We'd love to keep the photo, but we can't, without proof that it has been released. --GRuban (talk) 14:23, 27 January 2016 (UTC)
Sorry, no way. Several times I tried to use the service you suggest; I have formulated certain conclusion about it ("it does not work"), and I see no reason to change my point of view. Thank you for your interest. Domitori (talk) 16:17, 28 January 2016 (UTC)
