Wikimedia OTRS release generator feedbackEdit

I was just testing out the release generator, as at our last edit-a-thon quite a few people gave me photos to put in Commons and I need to secure formal permissions from them. It all seems to go very smoothly; the phrase "media work" is a bit confusing, but I can explain to people what that is. If you could come up with a clearer explanation – perhaps with examples? – that would be great. The one thing that jarred was the spelling of email throughout as eMail, such a non-standard spelling that users might be confused into thinking it was some kind of proprietary email software. It should definitely be changed! Thanks for building this excellent tool: it'll make the process much smoother. Giantflightlessbirds (talk) 02:18, 20 December 2017 (UTC)

@Giantflightlessbirds: Sorry for the delayed response; glad to hear your experience was positive. I was going to explain why I believe eMail to be a valid spelling (while not formally correct it is somewhat common in my native language, German), but the more I think about it the more I agree with your POV that as a nonstandard variant it simply shouldn't be there. Replaced. The tool's approach towards "in-universe" terminology such as media work is to offer (very) brief explanations on what they're about and to link to help pages here on Commons for further information, therefore I'd personally prefer any additional examples to be placed at the linked Commons:Derivative works, if necessary. Thanks for the feedback and Happy Holidays!    FDMS  4    16:10, 27 December 2017 (UTC)

UpdateEdit

Good day @FDMS4! Did you remember the website of Mr. Rain de Ocampo? I'dd tried to look for an update of that particular website on OTRS. However, I didn't done my response because I'm not part of OTRS team. If you have an update regarding this, please feel free to reply within hours. Thank you and belated Happy Holidays to you. May God Bless you always! --RenRen070193 (talk) 09:27, 27 December 2017 (UTC)

@RenRen070193: The OTRS ticket has been dealt with and the following files have been restored:

Category:Amtrak 600Edit

I'm not sure that we should have a separate category for locomotive #600. It's not an independently notable piece of rolling stock (unless it is later preserved in a museum, but that's a worry for the Commons editors of 2048). Having the separate category complicates the search of someone looking for images of an Amtrak ACS-64 in general, which I believe is much more common than someone looking for images of #600 specifically. Your thoughts? Pi.1415926535 (talk) 06:01, 4 January 2018 (UTC)

@Pi.1415926535: I agree.    FDMS  4    15:51, 4 January 2018 (UTC)
@O484~enwiki: It looks like you were the creator of the category last July; I'd like your thoughts as well. Cheers, Pi.1415926535 (talk) 04:05, 5 January 2018 (UTC)

Commons:Deletion_requests/UK_Traffic_Signs_Manual_Chapter_8_volumes.Edit

As you dealt with a related OTRS ticket, your input on this DR would be appreciated. 21:37, 10 January 2018 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by ShakespeareFan00 (talk • contribs) 2018-01-10T21:37:38‎ (UTC)
