Wikimedia OTRS release generator feedback by George HoEdit

I think more licensing options should be inserted, like GFDL and FAL (Free Art License / Licence Art Libre). Moreover, the generator should allow multi- or dual-licensing, especially if a copyright holder would like to use one non-free and one free licenses. For example, a copyright holder choosing CC BY-NC-ND should be informed that it is acceptable as long as another license is used, like GFDL 1.2 (or 1.3). George Ho (talk) 05:29, 22 April 2018 (UTC)

@George Ho: Sorry for the delayed response. The release generator offers a selection of recommended licenses, all other licenses (more than one if desired) can simply be written into the license field. Imo showing a long list of available licenses would primarily confuse users, especially so if some of them are actually discouraged for media content (like the GFDL).    FDMS  4    13:40, 27 April 2018 (UTC)
If adding a lot more is not desirable, how about adding just FAL into the list? --George Ho (talk) 16:23, 27 April 2018 (UTC)
@George Ho: I don't think the selection of suggested licenses should be in the hands of the tool developer – just like the release text is based on COM:CONSENT, the suggested licenses match the ones suggested by the primary upload form (no idea why the UploadWizard still suggests CC 3.0 licenses, the release generator won't do that). If you want to get someone to release a particular work under the FAL, you can create a link for the express version (doc here), e.g.    FDMS  4    19:52, 27 April 2018 (UTC)
Alternatively, I can manually type anything in the license bar at step 4, which I recently realized. --George Ho (talk) 20:09, 27 April 2018 (UTC)
