Aircraft carrier diagram - Update request edit

Hi. I'm sure you know we're using your aircraft carrier comparison diagram [1] in the WP article on aircraft carriers. It's a really good image, but looking closely I think some of the details are slightly out of date. Is there any chance you could update it to reflect the figures on the respective articles for each carrier? For example, the displacement of the British "Queen Elizabeth" class has crept up to 70,000 tonnes and it's not quite as long, the Russian and Chinese carriers are closer to 60,000 tonnes (but are longer), and the air group of the Gerald R Ford is now supposed to be a bit smaller. There might be other slight differences, but I've only been looking at the first four. Wiki-Ed (talk) 20:47, 29 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

SVG request! edit

Howdy there, FOX-52! Great work on your SVGs, especially the U.S. Federal Reserve flag. I was wondering if you'd be interested in vectorizing this raster image as well as improving this existing SVG (it has embedded raster images in it, thanks to my vastly sub-par SVG skills). Cheers!   Illegitimate Barrister 10:38, 16 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hey again Fox edit

Heya Fox, it's been a while. I was wondering if you would be up for converting another raster image to an svg. It seems like there are no good copies of File:MARSOC LOGO.JPG on Commons or Wikipedia for that matter; they're all low quality and I was hoping this would remedy that. If you're too busy then no worries. Thanks again! Dainomite (talk) 00:40, 23 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

New York City diagram update edit

Hi FOX 52, I just noticed that the NYC building diagram needs an update. There are many (tall) buildings under construction, like 432 Park Avenue, 225 West 57th Street, One57 etc. It would be nice if you could add those three towers to your (new) diagram. I hope you can help me out! Thanks, Skylinerider (talk) 13:27, 21 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

The diagram is for building height comparisons only - Affixing newer buildings would add no value as they are less likely to be recognized to the reader. FOX 52 (talk) 17:24, 21 July 2014 (UTC)Reply
Ok, I guess you are right. Maybe when 432 Park tops out and the other WTC buildings finally get completed (sigh!) ... till then, keep up the good work! Greetings from Vienna, Skylinerider (talk) 12:33, 22 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

Chinese military flags edit

Please observe this source, the ratio is the same as File:People's Liberation Army Flag of the People's Republic of China.svg and the colour divide is not equal. Fry1989 eh? 20:28, 12 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Yes that's exactly the source I refered to - bottom of that webpage has a picture, and I even had the text translated "flag of upper half with the army the same equal lower part of the flag is sky blue, like-Blue heaven" - there's no way that flag is as square as you've made it - FOX 52 (talk) 03:10, 13 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Venezuela Roundel edit

Hi Fox.

The Roudel of Venezuela (Escarapela) was changed in 2012 according to the directives of painting directive issued by CEO-DIR-119 (31/08/2012) and CEO-DIR-120 (4/9/2012). Unfortunately it is not online official information and that the guidelines were printed on paper.

However, here's a tweet issued by the Venezuelan Air Force confirming that is guided by the guidelines issued by the CEO-DIR-119.

These links more information. Include infographics Bolivarian Military Aviation. [2] [3] [4]. The information was written by Adolfo Alfonzo, Subdirector of the magazine "Ámbito Cívico Militar" and Editor of the virtual magazine "CAMUFLAJE, ARTE E ILUSTRACIÓN".

I leave a link (http://www.ceofanb.mil.ve/index.php/publicaciones/revista-ambito-civico-militar) to the official website of Strategic Operational Command of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces of Venezuela. As you may notice, the magazine "Ámbito Cívico Militar" it is edited and published by this institution. Unfortunately only be seen online the latest publication of the magazine. As I said before, the changes of the roundel were published in the edition No. 37 of the magazine.

Given that the image I uploaded was reversed, I do not know what steps to take, because the roundel (File:Roundel of Venezuela.svg) going for three years outdated.

Sorry for my bad English. I use a translator.--Vinotinto1000 (talk) 02:05, 25 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

The problem with your sources is they aren't reliable. The first one only states (translated) "New scheme of paint and logos of systems of weapons" makes no mentions and shows nothing of the "new" roundel. The other group of sources are all from a blog which are not permitted per- WP:SPS. Best to find some photographic evidence FOX 52 (talk) 06:52, 25 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
Hi Fox, thanks for answering. I understand the point and seems very valid. I can only hope that out official information, or some images issued by a government agency. Greetings. --Vinotinto1000 (talk) 18:52, 25 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

Zimbabwe military flags edit

Request to a graphist with experience in air force emblems. There a two Zimbabwe military flags showing a low-quality bird, File:Flag of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces.svg and File:Flag of the Air Force of Zimbabwe.svg. Improving the first one should be trivial for you, by taking the bird of the emblem you already vectorized, while for the first one I am not 100 per cent sure of the depiction is the same. Can you improve them?--Antemister (talk) 22:26, 14 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

HuAF roundels edit

Hello FOX 52!

Why did you revert my edits? I have updated the roundels according to Decree 2/2007. (I. 18.) of the Minister of Defence. The pre-2007 roundels have also been uploaded separately (see here and here).

Regards, Thommy (talk) 11:56, 31 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

You should not over write a file with those kinds of major changes per -WC:Overwrite Policy. You need to create new files under a different file name. - Further your Minister of Defence Decree 2/2007 appears to be something that was under consideration, I can't find any other source (images, artilcles, etc..) to support the claim. - Cheers FOX 52 (talk) 17:01, 31 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

About PLAAF Emblem edit

Please do not revert People's Liberation Army Air Force since the armband of PLAAF has been changed ([5] and [6]) and the emblem I uploaded is the official emblem of PLAAF, it can be found on car of PLAAF in Military Parade, you can see it [7] and [8] --解放的高加索 (talk) 11:17, 14 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Ah, thank you for doing so! An issue remain, that is the color shade. The file already uploaded ist from Jiri Laudas flag book. Instead an official statistical yearbook as well as Whitney Smith 1975 book show it yellowand red only (BTW, the same applies to the pre-1970 version of today's arms as well). Your depiction seems to be a compromise between both of them. Actually, I consider a goverment publication as more reliable. DO you think it should be changed?--Antemister (talk) 11:40, 11 June 2016 (UTC)Reply
Nah I think were good, the use of heavy black line, ends up making the image distorted, and this way the true image is represented without compromise - FOX 52 (talk) 17:46, 11 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

Overwrite edit

Will you please stop being disruptive. I'm trying to discuss this matter on Ellin Beltz's talk page where you started a conversation, but until it is resolved can you please stop just reverting? Fry1989 eh? 00:18, 31 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Fry1989: I'm not sure of what part of  major changes is confusing, when it comes to the overwrite policy. Then you're not taking into account of what should be placed in the Former insignia section, because if you update an insignia, then there should be a "Former insignia" for historical purposes. - ei Roundel of the Korean Air Force (current) to Roundel of Korean Air Force 1950-2000 (former) - Roundel of Hungarian Air Force (current) to Roundel of Hungary (1938-1942) - FOX 52 (talk) 05:57, 31 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
If you're going to give me that sarcastic attitude, we're not going to get along. As I explained on Ellin Beltz's talk page, this is common practice for an image that has changed. They did this with the flag of Malawi. It is the same thing. Fry1989 eh? 16:58, 31 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
That's not sarcasm, it's common sense - and if it's standard practice then why are there two separate files for South Africa (South Africa 1958-1981) & (1982-2003)? - Again their should be a separate file for the "Former insignia" - regards FOX 52 (talk) 17:16, 31 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

Flickr2Commons edit

I have just come across a few images you have recently uploaded from Flickr. I would appreciate it if in the future, you used the Flickr2Commons tool. This tool allows images to be moved to Commons from Flickr without having to download the images to your own computer. It also brings in the largest resolution of the image, as well making sure to list the correct license and url, making it easy for the automated Flickr Review system. Also, it is fairly easy to categorize images with this tool. To use it, you just need to go to the url and authorize it (where it says "authorise first"). Mozambique Air Force edit

It appears Mozambique has created a new roundel, rather than use the overly-complicated coat of arms as an aircraft marking. I intend to recreate this roundel later today after work. Fry1989 eh? 20:26, 16 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

@Fry1989: Just a heads up the Mozambique COA is not the same as their roundel, and there has been some validity issues concerning that insignia (perhaps mention as an alternate) - FOX 52 (talk) 21:01, 16 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
I was referring to File:Mozambique Air Force insignia.svg. They use it as an aircraft marking, but it is more properly the Air Force's coat of arms/badge/logo or whatever we shall call it. I agree this new roundel needs more sources before we know for certain it is the official new marking. Fry1989 eh? 23:28, 16 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Fry1989: And the website has several examples of the current one, but no mentions of yours (yet) - FOX 52 (talk) 23:58, 16 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
I am in a group on Facebook with the person that runs that website, which is where that photo was posted. I haven't spoken with him about this, but I imagine he will add it to the website when he has spare time. Only time will tell if this has been adopted for wider use. Fry1989 eh? 00:45, 17 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
I just uploaded my drawing. If you have any comments I'm open to hearing them. I decided to name it as a test roundel for now, until more conclusive evidence presents itself. Fry1989 eh? 00:55, 17 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

file:World Navy Aircraft carries chart.svg edit

Very nice chart :) However, "Charles de Gaulle" seemed too big to me - and I checked all, and I'm afraid, that several carriers are out of scale :( Would you possibly care to improve this valuable picture? I resized all using "Gerald Ford" as a reference, and first of all, "Ch de G" is much too long, as well as "Sao Paulo". "Queen Elizabeth" is slightly too long and too wide (note, that official RN page states legth only 280 m and her ski-jump actually doesn't stick out). "Kuzniecov" and "Liaoning" both have length 306 m, so it's pretty OK. The ones in lower row are generally too big... Pibwl (talk) 23:05, 26 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

File:Seal of the Iraqi Air Force.svg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution.
