Getting WD item edit

Hi Gabrielchihonglee, i saw the edit of your bot and wondered how one can determine the related WD item of the category. I used this API call which returns Q9523945. However the language links seem to come from Q885 which is also shown in the Wikidata Infobox. Can you tell me how i get from the category WD item to the "normal" Wikidata item? Thank you in advance, --Arnd (talk) 12:26, 13 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

Maybe also User:Zhuyifei1999 can know. --Arnd (talk) 12:28, 13 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Aschroet: , it expands {{Interwiki from Wikidata}} on the page to find the interwiki links. It compares interwiki links provided in the template and in the page and remove duplicates. You can find the code here: gist. --Gabrielchihonglee (talk) 12:55, 13 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

A file that you have uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, File:MDVT Questionnaire Info Screen.jpg, is a derivative work, containing an "image within an image". Examples of such works would include a photograph of a sculpture, a scan of a magazine cover, or a map that has been altered from the original. In each of these cases, the rights of the creator of the original must be considered, as well as those of the creator of the derivative work.

While the description page states who made this derivative work, it currently doesn't specify who created the original work, so the overall copyright status is unclear. If you did not create the original work depicted in this image, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright.

Please edit the file description and add the missing information, or the file may be deleted. If you created the original content yourself, enter this information as the source. If someone else created the content, the source should be the address to the web page where you found it, the name and ISBN of the book you scanned it from, or similar. You should also name the author, provide verifiable information to show that the content is in the public domain or has been published under a free license by its author, and add an appropriate template identifying the public domain or licensing status, if you have not already done so. Please add the required information for this and other files you have uploaded before adding more files. If you need assistance, please ask at the help desk. Thank you!

Re: Media Data Verification Tool (MDVT) Quiz in foreign language edit

Re [1] Do you have other language versions of the quiz? I can give you a Russian translation.

Media Data Verification Tool (MDVT) Community Suggestions Questionnaire

Опрос сообщества об утилите, которая подтверждает аккуратность данных на Викискладе

MDVT is a micro-contribution tool which enables volunteers to verify (structured) data on media on Wikimedia Commons.

Этот инструмент позволяет добровольцам подтверждать структурированные данные об изображениях, видео и т.п. на Викисклад. Каждое подтверждение даётся в виде ответа на небольшой простой вопрос.

Submission entries of this form WILL be published, but with all personal data (username if you chose to provide one) removed.

Каждый ответ на такой вопрос публикуется, но личные данные (например, имя пользователя, если Вы его укажете) будет удалено.

Please see https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T247576 for more details on the tool.

Maybe these translations can be added to the survey to send it to users who speak a foreign language (there is a category of such users in cases when they used the babel template at their user page) or at foreign language village pumps which are read by Commons users.

Thank you soooo much for the translation, however, I doubt that would help (I've only got 7 responses in 3 days :( ). No matter what, I'll definitely use your translation if i meet someone who speaks russian! Thanks!!! --Gabrielchl (talk) 03:50, 12 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
Hi Gabrielchl. This is interesting that the number of replies has been so low. I would suggest to ask at the technical village pump, whether someone would like to add this survey to the sitenotice for logged in users, or how they would suggest to reach the most active users. There is also mw:Massmessage, which may or may not have a filter for most active users; again at the technical village pump people would know whether it is a good tool for reaching out. --Gryllida (talk) 21:50, 18 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Gryllida: Ahhhhh, I see, will do! Thanks a lot for that advice! --Gabrielchl (talk) 23:16, 18 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Re: Media Data Verification Tool edit

Hi Gabrielchl! Following this survey, have you written the tool? How do I test it out? Thanks! --Gryllida (talk) 06:25, 11 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Gryllida: yes I did (part of the google summer of code program). It's available at https://mdvt.toolforge.org/. Unfortunately, following the completion of the program, due to a lack of time/interest and most especially the lack of any users or "future" of the tool, it is not maintained properly at the moment. But please do feel free to try it out, and just ping me anytime if you got other questions. :) --Gabrielchl (talk) 12:51, 11 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

Gabrielchihonglee-Bot edit

Bonjour, Your Bot Gabrielchihonglee-Bot has renamed a category incorrectly: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Monuments_and_memorials_in_Brest,_France. It is important to differentiate between Brest in France and other Brest (like Brest-Litovsk). S. DÉNIEL (talk) 14:19, 13 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

@S. DÉNIEL: hi! the redirection was created to fix a double category redirect (i.e. IF category A -> category B -> category C, THEN category A -> category C). You can check the edit message to see why the change was made in this case. If A shouldn't point to B or B to C, feel free to simply break the category redirect. :) --Gabrielchl (talk) 14:46, 13 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
