Mahdi Tomb imagesEdit

@Hansmuller: Hello thanks for posting the images of the Mahdi's tomb in Omdurman. Can you tell me more about the source of the photos? There are one or two corrections I'd like to make to the descriptions (but I'm a newcomer to Wiki editing). Are you planning to upload any more Sudan pictures? Cnatideev (talk) 16:36, 26 February 2020 (UTC)

@Cnatideev : Thanks for your interest. Perhaps there are more pictures of South Sudan to come I think, as the photographer - see the metadata with each picture - moved on to Chad and West Africa with his group of fellow students. You can contact the photographer through me. On Wikimedia we just make corrections and additions if we are reasonably sure, so ... feel free and go ahead! Or discuss them if you like. I have corrected the location: Omdurman, Sudan. Cheers, Hansmuller (talk) 09:55, 27 February 2020 (UTC)

Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk.

The file you added may soon be deleted. If you believe this file is not a copyright violation, you may replace the copyvio tag with a regular deletion request.

  • This file is a copyright violation for the following reason: Name of the painter is not even mentioned, so very likely OTRS-ticket does not give the assent of the copyright owner.
Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

Your account has been blockedEdit

This personal attack is unacceptable and is merely one in a longer line of abusive comments towards two OTRS-members.

Also: regarding the wider discussion. Drop the stick and back slowly away from the horse carcass. You are being disruptive.--Natuur12 (talk) 14:12, 23 March 2020 (UTC)

I'm not going to discuss this block at NL-wiki. Please refrain from exporting this issue to other projects. Natuur12 (talk) 15:20, 23 March 2020 (UTC)

No personal attack was intended - i have no time for that, i just want to upload of course. I was correctly prompted by Krd to provide factual information on the matters, by way of example. Thanks, Hansmuller (talk) 14:47, 26 March 2020 (UTC)

Discussion on appeals and mediationEdit

Talking to myself: on the OTRS Notice Board we had a discussion on this topic. Explaining the factual reason for the discussion unfortunately caused the block just above. Hansmuller (talk) 12:51, 19 April 2020 (UTC)

Hello Hansmuller, reading this, I thought to myself... this might cheer you up. :-) Lotje (talk) 13:29, 19 April 2020 (UTC)
Dear @Lotje , thank you so much for your new refreshing take on these and other matters! I shall continue my endeavour to make Commons a safer place for GLAM donations. This in spite of unnecessary difficulties, honouring the heritage of for instance the w:en:Battle of the Golden Spurs 1302 - i was too young then (i was not allowed to take part!) to fully understand the consequences, even now for attaining a civil society of Wikimedia. Thanks again, also for your good work, Hansmuller (talk) 09:28, 20 April 2020 (UTC)

Thnks :-) Lotje (talk) 16:06, 23 May 2020 (UTC)

Hansmuller (talk) 11:34, 24 May 2020 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading File:ASC Leiden - NSAG - van Es 20 - 033 - Un long bâtiment monumental blanc moderne de deux étages - Université Cheikh-Anta-Diop, Dakar, Sénégal - 27-31-3-1962.tif. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.

If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.)

If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the OTRS system and follow the procedure described there.

Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you.

This action was performed automatically by AntiCompositeBot (talk) (FAQ) 11:12, 18 June 2020 (UTC)

"This action" happened "automatically" when the uploader was removing old and adding new permission templates on the NSAG Collection using the unimitable Commons:VisualFileChange. For less than a minute some images - yes, I confess I took the risk - lacked the final permission and therefore were temporarily "naked". Then the trigger-happy AntiCompositeBot immediately kicked in, which should be complimented for its vigilance. However, it threatened those files with deletion, the digital death! Fortunately, all files were saved from oblivion by an attentive moderator or another bot? (Who can tell the difference? A Turing test.) Do well and be happy (Spinoza). Talking to myself again... remember Anne Frank:

Beschrijving: www.ad.nl Hansmuller (talk) 08:40, 25 June 2020 (UTC)

Eissink (talk) 19:38, 6 July 2020 (UTC).

  1. Dujardin, Félix, Dates of birth and death: 1801 in Tours, France - 1860, Also known as: F. D. ;
  2. Dujardin, Louis, Dates of birth and death: 1808 in Rouen - 1859, Also known as: L. D. ;
  3. Dujardin, Paul Rodolphe Joseph, Dates of birth and death: 1843 Lille - 1913, Also known as: P. R. J. D. ; P. Dujardin ;

Re:w:nl:FrottolaEdit

I uploaded that file 14 years ago, and don't remember why, perhaps editing the article Frottola in spanish Wikipedia. For the same reason, I can't remember the source, obviously from the XV century. The music seems, yes, reading the score, that you did find in a Youtube video. --Antur (talk) 22:20, 3 August 2020 (UTC)

Muchas gracias, esto ayuda Hansmuller (talk) 12:04, 4 August 2020 (UTC)

Bril? Vaarwel, Hansmuller (talk) 06:07, 9 August 2020 (UTC)
Ik zag het voor geiten aan  . Waarom neem je steeds afscheid van mij? Lotje (talk) 10:13, 9 August 2020 (UTC)
@Lotje O, vaarwel is definitief? Ik dacht tijdelijk. Vaar..uh Hansmuller (talk) 06:43, 27 August 2020 (UTC)

Fixed by using the correct name of Anonymous-EU. Uploaded at temperature of 32 C in the room, perhaps that's why this happened. Hansmuller (talk) 09:41, 18 August 2020 (UTC)
