Please keep in mind that soviet copyright is retroactiveEdit

You ruling on the deletion request of File:Leon trotsky.jpg completely contradicts all Wikimedia Commons policy and current copyright laws. Please reconsider you ruling, remembering core Wikimedia policies such as that the burden of proof is on the uploader and that Russian works MUST be published early enough (an clearly indicated what such exact publication was in the source section of the infobox). We all make mistakes, and I hope that you will take the time to fix this one. International copyrights, especially those of post-soviets states, can be a bit confusing. In the future, please keep in mind the publication burden of proof requirement under PD-Russia.--PlanespotterA320 (talk) 02:49, 4 May 2020 (UTC)

Please see Commons:Deletion requests#Appealing_decisions --Indeedous (talk) 11:34, 4 May 2020 (UTC)
I fully intend to appeal it. I also ask that you acknowledge your mistake to help fastrack the renomination process.--PlanespotterA320 (talk) 14:15, 4 May 2020 (UTC)
Have you found a pre-1946 publication of the photo? If you do not respond soon, I will file a renomination for deletion and then bring up your Russian copyright knownledge (or rather, lack thereof) with administration. If you continue to assert that it is public domain despite the clear publication date requirement provisions of PD-Russia-1996, I will ask that you not be permitted to rule on Russian copyright cases anymore.--PlanespotterA320 (talk) 19:46, 6 May 2020 (UTC)

Thank you for the deletion I requested of the file thumb. Friendly, Bernard de Go Mars (talk) 15:13, 11 May 2020 (UTC)

Your Bundeswehr pageEdit

Your Bundeswehr page User:Indeedous/Recent Uploads/Bundeswehr is ridiculously long. The text content alone is over half a megabyte long. There are so many images there that my browser isn't even loading them all, but there must be thousands. 1 January 2018 is hardly "recent" any more. You might consider trimming the page. JIP (talk) 13:09, 18 May 2020 (UTC)

Yeah, that's the problem with most of my recent upload pages. I don't have the time to look after them but don't want to delete them because I know that some people are using them. Fixed Bundeswehr for the moment --Indeedous (talk) 20:33, 29 May 2020 (UTC)

QuestionEdit

Hello, I reached out to the photographer of the images up for deletion here. He owns the copyright, not the UK government despite them posting the photograph on their website. He confirmed he owned it, and will send permission, if we pay £350 - which I don't think any of us would do. I would like to send his confirmation email that he does in fact own it incase this comes up again -- how can I do that so it's on file for all administrators? OTRS? Thanks, Corky 21:17, 25 May 2020 (UTC)

Hey @Corkythehornetfan:, OTRS seems to be the best way for those mails. But I'm not in the OTRS-team and can't help you that much. But I guess you already solved it. --Indeedous (talk) 20:26, 29 May 2020 (UTC)

Please explain your exact reasoning hereEdit

No evidence of early enough publication (URAA or not) simply to be PD in the country of origin was ever provided. Sources like 2010's books are NOT early enough to cut it, not matter how old the photos are, per PD-Russia. You said "per pierreselim", but that doesn't mean anything - pierreselim didn't prove that the 2010's publications were early enough (they're obviously not) nor did they provide the required evidence of earlier publications for them to not be copyrighted anymore in their country of origin. Due to the fact that you have repeatedly made mistakes in this category of copyright concerns, which has been brought to your attention (and you have failed to properly acknowledge), if you continue making such boldly inccorrect rulings (in a category of copyright that is not your area of expertise) I will have make other admins aware of your behavior and misrulings.--PlanespotterA320 (talk) 18:46, 4 September 2020 (UTC)

Your behaviorEdit

Your incorrect closing of copyright violations as "keep" is under discussion at Commons:Administrators' noticeboard/User problems. I did not want to have to take things there, but given how you responded (and failed to acknowledge wrongdoing) in regards to my warnings about the photo of Trotsky and compounded by the fact that you continue to make such problematic rulings in regards to copyright laws you seem to be quite unfamiliar with, I had to choice but to bring your behavior to attention since there is clearly no other way to correct such problems. You are an admin with a a tremendous amount of power - and great power comes with great responsibility and accountability.--PlanespotterA320 (talk) 00:43, 5 September 2020 (UTC)

Daily gallery updater has failed on User:Indeedous/Recent Uploads/BundeswehrEdit

Hello. This message is to inform you that a daily gallery in your userspace, User:Indeedous/Recent Uploads/Bundeswehr, has failed. Due to software limitations, the bot has a hard upper-limit of 2000 files per page. After the new edit, the page would have reached 2015 files.

This usually happens because a gallery is too broad or because the galleries need to encompass a shorter timeframe. Please review your settings and request an appropriate change to your gallery. The logs are available here.

Please make your request for removal within 4 days, or your the bot owner will remove the gallery altogether.

Notification about possible deletionEdit

Some contents have been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether they should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at their entry.

If you created these pages, please note that the fact that they have been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with them, such as a copyright issue.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Affected:

Please participate in the Universal Code of Conduct consultation on Wikimedia Commons!Edit

Dear Indeedous

Thank you for your hard work to create the sum of all knowledge that is freely sharable to every single human being across the world. As our diverse community grows, we need a guideline that will help all of our work collectively and constructively where everyone feels safe, welcomed, and part of a team. That is why the Wikimedia movement is working on establishing a global guideline called the Universal Code of Conduct, often referred to as UCoC.

After the months-long policy consultation, we have prepared a policy (available in many languages) that has been ratified by the Board of Trustees. We’re currently in the second phase of the process. During this round of consultation, we want to discuss the implementation of this policy. As a member of the functionary team of Wikimedia Commons, your opinion on enforcement is of great value. We want to hear from you on how this policy can be enforced on the Wikimedia Commons community and what might be needed to do so. There are a few enforcement questions so you can easily outline your answers based on them. Please do not hesitate to bring any more questions/challenges you think are not yet discussed.

The discussion is taking place on Commons:Universal Code of Conduct consultation. You can also share your thoughts by replying to this message (Please ping me so I get notified), posting your message on my talk page. I am aware that some thoughts cannot be expressed publicly, so you can always share your opinion by emailing me as well.

As a valued member of the Commons community, please share your thoughts, ideas, and experiences that relate to UCoC. Let us know what needs to be improved so we can build a more friendly and cooperative space to increase editor engagement and retention of new users.

Wikimedia projects are governed by you. So, it is you who needs to step up to ensure a safe, comfortable, and pleasant working environment.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you! Wikitanvir (WMF) (talk) 10:18, 5 February 2021 (UTC)

Please take a short survey regarding UCoCEdit

Hello Indeedous,

I would like to inform you that we now have a survey in place to take part in the UCoC consultation. It is not a long one and should take less than 10 minutes to complete. You can take the survey even if you have already participated in the on-wiki consultation. It has a different set of questions and allows you to participate anonymously and privately.

As a member of the Commons functionaries, your opinion is especially essential. Please click here to participate in the survey.

You are still welcome to participate in the on-wiki discussions. If you prefer you can have your say by sending me an email. You can also drop me an email if you want to have a one-to-one chat.

Thank you for your participation! Wikitanvir (WMF) 13:54, 12 February 2021 (UTC)
