Goodies, tips, and tricks Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your graphic abilities. You can find the files you have uploaded in your Uploads. Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~. To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg. You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account. There are several tools to upload files. Have you edited Wikipedia before? This guide might be useful. Made a mistake? Do you want to have a file renamed or moved? Use the move link and wait for an authorized user to rename it. Do you want to have your recently uploaded picture removed? Tag it as {{speedy|reason here}}. For more information read the deletion guidelines.

Descriptions

Hi Kate, one of the reasons you had with the above files being nominated for speedy deletion was the way you filled in the description fields nd the way you added the licenses. Because the Wikimedia foundation and the servers are based in the United States, any reproduction of a two dimensional artwork, such as a painting, is considered a Commons:Derivative works, however much time, skill, resources etc that goes into scanning or photographing the work is considered irrelevant, the author in the description field should have been the original painter of the artwork, you would also have saved yourself the nominations if for date you had entered the dates that the artwork was created, not the date on which it was uploaded; for good measure adding the dates of the artist would have helped.

With regards the licensing if the artist died over 100 years ago, Commons considers the artwork to be Public Domain by reason of it being old, its nice that with File:Pride Hill.jpg Shropshire Museums gave their permission, however with regards to Commons because the artist died 160 years ago that permission is not needed.--KTo288 (talk) 21:29, 7 May 2013 (UTC)
