NOT a picture of the first SD&A train east after completion of the line.Edit

This print and original negative is held by the San Diego History Center, and it's metadata notes the image was taken by Ralph P. Stineman between 1911 to 1915, in Needles, California on the AT&SF line in front of the El Garces Hotel. Furthermore, the El Garces sits on the South side of the tracks, thus this train is eastbound - going away from San Diego. Note the 1915 Panama-California Expo logo on banner. The last car of this train is a Lake series Pullman, assigned to the Santa Fe. The SD&A line was not completed till Nov of 1919. This image has nothing to do with the SD&A. —Preceding unsigned comment was added by (talk) 22:49, 21 January 2018 (UTC)

Use of a picture and request for a larger fileEdit

Hello Magnus. I'm writing a book about the period of civil war in Italy, and it also tells the story of Alberto Andreani, Colonel of the Italian Army. I kindly ask you if it is possible to use the photo of Alberto Andreani and, if possible, to have a larger file of it. Here's the file's link: Kind Regards,

Parliament building of BeninEdit

I saw the picture mentionned in the subject on the Benin page as well as Porto-Novo page. And it is written that it is the siege of Benin Parliament. Please, note that this is wrong. The building name in French is Palais des Congrès which can be litteraly translated as Palace of Congress, but its purpose is just to host events like seminars, conference and meeting. Benin Parliament siege is the "Palais des Gouverneurs" in French. And it is located in Porto-Novo, not Cotonou. Since i'm not used to editing wikipedia articles, I think i might let you know so you can correct this.

Best regards

Gildas Jr.

The Vernaccia picEdit

Hi, my name is Marco. I just would like to tell that the pic uploaded in the Vernaccia article it is not a Vernaccia from Sardinia, but (as stated on the label on the bottle) is a Vernaccia di San Gimignano. These two wines are quite different. I think the caption should be corrected. Best regards

image on wikipedia entry for margaret cavendishEdit

Hi Magnus,

The image you uploaded on the Margaret Cavendish page in Wikipedia does not represent her. According to her biography, Mad Madge, it is an image of Mary Lucas, her sister. Is it possible to remove it? It is misleading as is. This is the link to the image:

please delete this picture, it's of me and i can't figure out how to delete itEdit

The plant represented here - and on the associated file File:Asarum europaeum 'Asarabacca' (Aristolochiaceae) flower.jpg is not an asarum europaeum, but an erythronium dens-canis:

Perhaps an overlooked issue?Edit

Contains an element labelled "Aluminum Cans"... I cannot find any reference to that as a battery type. Is this a copy/paste error?

maximale Länge (Zeichenzahl incl. Erweiterung) für Dateinamen auf Wikimedia CommonsEdit

Hallo Magnus Manske,

Simon Fraser of BalnainEdit

Hi Magnus I have written a book on the 1777 battles of Saratoga, which will be published by Oxford University Press next year. Simon Fraser of Balnain was mortally wounded in the second battle (about 3 PM on Oct. 7, 1777) at the moment that the battle and thus the entire American War of Independence reached its tipping point. It is, of course, important for us to include the image you uploaded, the only good one of Fraser. While I understand that credit is not required, I would like to include the credit line "Courtesy of Magnus Manske" or whatever alternative credit line you would prefer. Please contact me at so that I am sure that I get this right. Dean Snow —Preceding unsigned comment was added by (talk) 16:26, 03 December 2015 (UTC)

The bot have deleted I know the guy, who made this photo. But he is not in Wikimedia. How I should place the photo? What to do?

Manhattan (cocktail)Edit

The picture that is used for "Manhattan (cocktail)" is incorrect. The link is here. It depicts a cocktail shaker which is NEVER to be used when making a Manhattan. They are always to be stirred and never shaken. In general, whiskey and gin are two spirits that should never be shaken. The actual cocktail in that picture it accurate and you can tell it has been properly stirred as there is no foam and it has a dark amber color to it. Shaken Manhattans are foamy, light in color due to the melted ice dilution, and typically do not taste great. This pic needs to be reshot with a mixing glass and a strainer. —Preceding unsigned comment was added by (talk) 21:08, 29 July 2017 (UTC)

Flickr2Commons errorEdit

Recently I have been unable to transfer files with Flickr2Commons. I get the red error "The file you submitted was empty". Changing file name doesn't seem to help. Cheers, --Animalparty (talk) 03:00, 17 January 2019 (UTC)

Could you be a bit more specific? "It doesn't work" is not a helpful bug report. Which file on Flickr did you try to transfer? What file name did you try to give it? Other non-default parameters you used? --Magnus Manske (talk) 09:28, 17 January 2019 (UTC)
Today Flickr got new SSL certificates which don't work on older machines and my flickrripper failed on them. No idea if related. Nemo 09:44, 17 January 2019 (UTC)
