Why have you deleted the TNSrecords logo, which I do, as stated, have permission to upload?

Mozza1979 (talk) 11:46, 7 November 2008 (UTC)

Why have you suppress my image ? It was on wikipédiacommons since 2006, I thonk... This is the mail that I have send and the reply. Sorry if my english is bas.

Hi could you please name the image --Mardetanha talk 12:21, 27 September 2008 (UTC)

Hi, thinks for you reply, I am not shure to undestand what you want. The image : <> is not Thorame-Haute ([1]), but an another village : La Mure (La Mure-Argens: [2]) near Thorame. In French : "Vue du village de la Mure." I know very well this places. I think this picture was mine too, but I think that it was supress... Paul.04

Why did you remove my image - stop vandalizing pages.

  • Why did you remove the image "COLONIAL_HILLS_1941_PLAT.JPG" from the article Colonial Hills (Subdivision of Worthington, Ohio)? It was an important part of the article and its removal was senseless vandalism. I worked very hard on that article and I cannot understand why someone would come along and remove a perfectly good image for reasons I don't even understand. Thanks to you, the image is now deleted from Wikipedia and I cannot restore it. Why don't you focus on adding some useful content rather than vandalizing other people's work? 13:37, 27 September 2008 (UTC)
First of all i would like to say please see civility part of wikipedia again. secondly i have restored images an as you may see it has lack of source information please provide otherwise it will be deleted again --Mardetanha talk 14:06, 27 September 2008 (UTC)
As the image was restored, I put it into the article again. If it was used elsewhere as well, please restore it there too. --h-stt !? 07:47, 28 September 2008 (UTC)
Mardetanha, Image:COLONIAL HILLS 1941 PLAT.JPG clearly indicates source and author, a normal name, not just an anonymous nick. You must understand that authors get mad at you when you are deleting their work. It is not right occasion to start lectures about civility. Why don't you just resign? /Pieter Kuiper (talk) 20:10, 19 October 2008 (UTC)

Image:Map of Kuwait Failaka (lithuanian).jpg

May I kindly know why was this image Image:Map of Kuwait Failaka (lithuanian).jpg that was translated by me deleted on (falsely translated) basis? I am a native of that country, and wrote the exact names in Arabic as they are officially called? And may I know why was I not informed that this deletion would happen? I have been registered in commons and have uploaded a huge number of photos ( you could check this out) with the right licenses and proper information of which a great majority were created by me? I think I deserve better treatment than this. Thank you very much.--Producer (talk) 22:43, 1 October 2008 (UTC)

Oh i am sorry if i made you sad . as i checked both maps it sees that some point has been translated falsely. as you may see in the main map there are some point which weren't at your map.but if you like i would restore it --Mardetanha talk 22:55, 1 October 2008 (UTC)
Hi, Mardetanha. Nothing is mistranslated in the image. In fact, Producer is one of the most trusted users on Arabic Wikipedia. --Meno25 (talk) 00:20, 2 October 2008 (UTC)
شکرا محمد i have restored the image before. thanks for your notice --Mardetanha talk 00:21, 2 October 2008 (UTC)

Deletion of images

Please see Commons:Undeletion_requests/Current_requests#Deletions. It seems that User:Kelly whith which I had content disputes on an unrelated subject, has taken upon herself to mark images for deletion who had licensing information. jossi (talk) 18:01, 2 October 2008 (UTC)

Hi jossi now i am in the hurry but i have restored the images.both of you are trusted here. so i hope we can solve this problem peacefully --Mardetanha talk 19:36, 2 October 2008 (UTC)
Thanks. I have requested the uploader to send an OTRS ticket with the permissions so that this does not happen again jossi (talk) 19:40, 2 October 2008 (UTC)

Un Colón y 25 céntimos de Costa Rica 1948

Hi. Could you reverse erasing of Un Colón y 25 céntimos de Costa Rica 1948.jpg?

When I uploading the image, I did not put any license, but I did it later, when the bot had marked the file. When you deleted the image, it already had appropriate license. Thank you. --Lex.mercurio (talk) 20:16, 14 October 2008 (UTC)

hi would you please recheck the image name . the above mentioned image have never been uploaded --Mardetanha talk 20:48, 14 October 2008 (UTC)

Jewish tale

There is a Jewish tale that I like so much. In a god-forsaken village, one pretty young girl was tormented by a question that she couldn't answer: "How can I make the right choices?". Fortunately once, a famous wise rabbi casually stopped in the village. The news spread quickly, so everybody rushed to greet him and to ask him some wise suggestions. The young girl too, and when finally she was in front of the man, asked "How can I make the right choices?". The man: "Get experience!". Momentaneously satisfaied the girl came home but, at night, she coudn't get asleep. Because another question have arosen: "How can I get experience?". So the next day she went again to see the rabbi and this time asked "How can I get experience?". And the rabbi "Make wrong choices!". Sorry, for my maccaroni-english.--Giorgiomonteforti (talk) 00:05, 15 October 2008 (UTC)

it was very informative story .thanks a lot ! --Mardetanha talk 13:36, 15 October 2008 (UTC)

Deleting Image:Gray1120.png

I wonder why you have deleted Image:Gray1120.png, which is an image from Gray's anatomy, in public domain. Please, refrain from deleting images from Gray's anatomy. If I have misunderstood something, please pardon me. --Dan Polansky (talk) 09:59, 18 October 2008 (UTC)

Hello dear Dan i have restored the image but as you see the image the image has no description .please provide otherwise it will be deleted again. Thanks for your consideration --Mardetanha talk 19:15, 18 October 2008 (UTC)
Are you blind? It was labeled like this: {{Gray's Anatomy plate|The relations of the viscera and large vessels of the abdomen. (Seen from behind, the last thoracic vertebra being well raised.)}}

/Pieter Kuiper (talk) 19:52, 18 October 2008 (UTC)

please think of etiquette before editing and please provide Description and Source for the image --Mardetanha talk 20:06, 18 October 2008 (UTC)
Look, you are civil and offering excuses all the time, but you are frequently deleting uploads and effort by users for no good reason. I just wondered how you could miss such a very large template. It contains both Source and Description. If that is not in the exact right place for you, then you can copy it to the place where you want to have it. /Pieter Kuiper (talk) 20:20, 18 October 2008 (UTC)
When you upload the image you are supposed to do that --Mardetanha talk 22:11, 18 October 2008 (UTC)
The image was uploaded more than three years ago, with different upload forms and under different rules. You as an administrator are supposed to be a steward of this depository, not just delete all the stuff that does not conform to current standards. I repeat: if info is not in the exact right place, then your task is not deleting the file, but to copy the info to where you want it. /Pieter Kuiper (talk) 22:27, 18 October 2008 (UTC)

Sterkebaktalk 20:56, 19 October 2008 (UTC)

Are you also incompetent? I will put in an undeletion request. I just continue in Commons:Undeletion requests/Current requests#Image:Gray1120.png. /Pieter Kuiper (talk) 21:00, 19 October 2008 (UTC)

Undeleting all the series of 7 Oct 2008

Dear Mardetanha, please review the files that you have deleted on 7 Oct 2008, check whether indeed there was no provision of copyright information, and if it was there, as is the case with Image:Gray1120.png, please enter the same copyright information into the images using any current template as you see fit and undelete the files. Thank you. --Dan Polansky (talk) 04:53, 26 October 2008 (UTC)

You wrote on my talk page: "hi dan could you please exactly tell me which image". I cannot do that. I just know that you have deleted a series of images during two minutes--a very short time, apparently in a haste, and that one of these images--Gray 1120.png--has very clear plate saying that it is in public domain. So what I would like to ask you is to check all those deleted images and undelete those of them that actually had copyright information. The images that I mean are those that I have already linked to; these are those shown in the deletion log in the following link: 7 Oct 2008. --Dan Polansky (talk) 19:09, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
Also, I would kindly ask you to consider the option of keeping basic conventions of writing English. For instance, my first name is spelled with capital D, and sentences start with capital letters and end with a period (AKA full stop). --Dan Polansky (talk) 19:11, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
Dan Polansky please keep in mind that not all commons users are native English speakers. Mardentanha is elected by the commons community and gas there for the right to delete files. Because there was one file deleted wrong, but no need to undelete them all. I trust his judgement and know it's all deleted for good reasson. Please don't go on a witch hunt, give links to images that are deleted with no good reasson. Just searching for mistakes don't help. Sterkebaktalk 20:55, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
Dear Sterkebak, I am not a native speaker either. To learn to start sentences with capital letters is a matter of choice, so is writing "I" in capital. As concerns your manners, I would kindly ask you to change the color of your signature from the yellow, which is difficult to read, to some readable, possibly dark, color.
As regards the substantive issue, there was no judgment, which is exactly why I am requesting a review: to all appearances, Mardetanha just deleted files per their being in a particular category, into which they have been placed by a bot.
Re: "give links to images that are deleted with no good reasson[sic]." How can I give you a list of images deleted for no good reasons when the whole series of images is already deleted? I have no means of reviewing the deleted images myself, and checking myself whether there was indeed no copyright information, AFAIK. If I am in error and in fact I have the option to review the deleted images myself, please, can you show me how? Again, the said images are these: 7 Oct 2008--Dan Polansky (talk) 07:42, 27 October 2008 (UTC)
I have looked at some of them now, with the help of the google cache. I looked at the Swedish architecture images, and for those there was good reason to delete (all from the same website, with inadequate authorisation). /Pieter Kuiper (talk) 08:46, 27 October 2008 (UTC)
The mass deletion of lots of files within a few minutes is just not instilling confidence in the process. An obviously PD image from Gray's Anatomy was deleted, and this admin could not see the huge PD-banner even after Polansky's request. After that his administrator buddy SterkeBak deleted it again (at least he realized the error of his ways). The links are in the log file that Polansky linked to. /Pieter Kuiper (talk) 21:12, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
Pieter Kuiper it is up to uploader to provide enough description and source .and please possibly stop harassing me --Mardetanha talk 21:47, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
So again, please, I would like to ask you, Mardetanha, to review the deletions, or to confirm that you have carefully reviewed every single file before you have deleted them. --Dan Polansky (talk) 07:29, 27 October 2008 (UTC)
Please note that I am not the uploader of the Image:Gray1120.png, neither am I the uploader of the other deleted images. I have noticed the deletion of Gray's image just by accident, when it was removed from one of the galleries to which I have added the image. I do not have any personal stakes in these images. It is just that the idea that images get deleted only per their being marked so by a robot, without a review of a careful admin at the point of deletion, makes me uneasy. --Dan Polansky (talk) 07:33, 27 October 2008 (UTC)
Because the files are deleted fast is not a reasson to believe it is wrong. When i handle a cat to check and delete, I open all files. Close the windows from the images that don't have to be deleted. And than i delete all the other files. With that why it is easy to delete 50 or more images in last than 5 minutes. Whe are speaking about a admin that does good work! If you can't give links to any image you think that is wrong deleted, there is no reasson to keep this discussion going! And my signature is the same on 300 wikiprojects i am not going to change it because it is for some people hard to read. Sterkebaktalk 08:26, 27 October 2008 (UTC)
Sterkebat, I see that you too show a considerable mastery of English, including "i" and "reasson", which is spelled "reason". And yet I am supposed to believe that you pay more attention and care to your administration tasks than to your written English. Sigh. You can keep your signature in an offending state if you prefer. I am wondering how anyone with a yellow signature can be given admin rights, anyway. --Dan Polansky (talk) 12:27, 27 October 2008 (UTC)

Note that Image:Gray1120.png is not the only image in that series of images that should not have been deleted. Other such images include Image:Seitenansicht StuG III Ausf A.jpg and Image:Regnum-landscape-syrtis.jpg, listed as deleted here, and Image:Sturmhaubitze 42, September 1944.jpg, Image:StuG III Ausf A.jpg. So I really think that reviewing the whole series of images and checking which of these should be undeleted is in order. --Dan Polansky (talk) 12:49, 27 October 2008 (UTC)

I really believe you must stop now! I checked those images and the are all deleted for a good reason. There are undeleted after OTRS Permission has arrived. You are telling people this admin keeps making mistakes, but he is not. It is now time to walk away. There is nothing wrong on his actions and if you keep searching and keep posting links to images that are handled fine you will only make a fool of yourself. Sterkebaktalk 13:32, 27 October 2008 (UTC)
It must be a misunderstanding. I was just requesting that someone checks the particular series of images; I was not saying that any and all actions of Mardetanha are erroneous. However, I do not take a yellow-signed admin who managed to delete Image:Gray1120.png after it has been restored as a reliable reviewer. --Dan Polansky (talk) 16:39, 27 October 2008 (UTC)
Here is another unjustified deletion in that batch: Image:JankovicUSOpen08afar.jpg. In the google cache I can see that it had a minor licensing problem: "This image was originally posted to Flickr by tshein at It was reviewed on 18:39, 28 September 2008 (UTC) by FlickreviewR, who found it to be licensed under the terms of the cc-by-2.0, which is compatible with the Commons. It is however not the same license as given above, and it is unknown whether that license ever was valid."
That kind of technicality is not a good reason to delete. On October 17 this image was uploaded again as Image:Jankovicusopen08afar.jpg. It is in use. /Pieter Kuiper (talk) 17:10, 27 October 2008 (UTC)
And Image:Rotor de jaula de ardilla.jpg was a GFDL-licensed photo of a en:Squirrel-cage rotor with good EXIF-data. It was lacking explicit author data, but the natural assumption would be that it was self-made. /Pieter Kuiper (talk) 10:50, 29 October 2008 (UTC)

You are just a deletion machine. Your log shows that you deleted lots of files today. And that is about all you do on commons. You do not fix a license, you do not take part in deletion debates, you do not upload anything, you just delete. /Pieter Kuiper (talk) 21:19, 2 November 2008 (UTC)
one of the most important part administrative action is maintenance . so please do your part and i will do my part .and please take my talk list from your watch list --Mardetanha talk 21:26, 2 November 2008 (UTC)
