This image on flickr was originally taken in jpg format. All flickr images that were originally in jpg format should be uploaded in .jpg format on WikiCommons rather than .png format because we would get the camera metadata. Also images in jpg format upload faster. Please see this DR and also this DR...where the link to the replacement image in .jpg shows that the flickr account owner puts some information in the camera metadata such as his full name and the image license. This is for your information. Please try to upload your future images in .jpg format rather than .png format if you can. Its your decision. No, I won't take any action against you. I just tried to show why .jpg format is better than .png, that's all. This is another image in .jpg format where the camera metadata not only names the camera model used but also the name of the flickr account owner.

  • Pictogram voting comment.svg Comment: Of course, if the original image at the flickr account was taken in png format, then you would have to upload the image on Commons in png format. Most flickr accounts use .jpg today. Thank You, --Leoboudv (talk) 00:45, 24 October 2013 (UTC)
  • Pictogram voting comment.svg Comment: In response to your question to me, what you have uploaded in png format, just leave it in png format. I don't know why you would have a problem uploading flickr images in jpg format if the original flickr image was taken in jpg format. You would normally crop the flickr version but save it in a jpg format rather than a png format. If you have a problem, perhaps Admin Lymantria could help. Regards, --Leoboudv (talk) 05:32, 25 October 2013 (UTC)
  • Sure, no problem. Good luck, --Leoboudv (talk) 07:48, 26 October 2013 (UTC)

Congratulations, Dear license reviewerEdit

If you use the helper scripts, you will find the links next to the search box (vector) or as single tabs (monobook). They are named license+ and license-.

Hi Mattythewhite, thanks for your request for license reviewer status. The request has been closed as successful, and you've been added to the list of reviewers. You can now start reviewing files – please see Commons:License review and Commons:Flickr files if you haven't done so already. We also have a guide how to detect copyright violations. Potential backlogs include Flickr review, Picasa review, Panoramio review, and files from other sources. You can use one of the following scripts by adding one of the lines to your common.js:

importScript('User:ZooFari/licensereviewer.js'); // stable script for reviewing images from any kind of source OR
importScript('User:Rillke/LicenseReview.js'); // contains also user notification when review fails, auto blacklist-check and auto-thank you message for Flickr-reviews.

You can also add {{user license reviewer}} to your user page if you wish. Thank you for your contributions on Commons!    FDMS  4    14:17, 27 June 2015 (UTC)

Welcome, Dear Filemover!Edit

Commons File mover.svg

Hi Mattythewhite, you're now a filemover. When moving files please respect the following advice:

  • Use the CommonsDelinker link in the {{rename}} template to order a bot to replace all ocurrences of the old title with the new one. Or, if there was no rename-request, please use the Move & Replace-tab.
  • Please do not tag redirects as {{speedy}}. Other projects, including those using InstantCommons, might be using the file even though they don't show up in the global usage. Deleting the redirects would break their file references.
  • Please know and follow the file rename guidelines.
