Our first steps help file and our FAQ will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy. You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold contributing here and assume good faith for the intentions of others. This is a wiki ‒ it is really easy. More information is available at the Community Portal. You may ask questions at the Help desk, Village Pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons. You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at Commons talk:Licensing. |

Tip: Categorizing images edit
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.CategorizationBot (talk) 12:31, 5 March 2011 (UTC)

Hi, please use a regular deletion nomination for this. Jcb (talk) 15:34, 16 September 2011 (UTC)
- Why? As I write in Copyvio, the author created the portrait at 1971. It is definitely clear that the date of his death could not be before 1971. So, by the copyright law of South Korea, copyright protection term of this portrait has not yet expired. --더위먹은민츠(Mintz) / 토론 (talk) 10:00, 18 September 2011 (UTC)
- Laws on this differ all over the world and also for an administrator it's not directly visible if the claims around the nomination are true. That's why we only use Copyvio if the file itself has been grabbed from the internet. In other cases we use a regular DR. Jcb (talk) 10:38, 18 September 2011 (UTC)
- OK. I added source page of this image at DR page. --더위먹은민츠(Mintz) / 토론 (talk) 11:12, 18 September 2011 (UTC)
