Discussion about QI assessment of one of your images edit

It’s about this image created by you

Hello Nrik kiran,

just in case you may have not noticed yet, I just want to give you a hint that there is some discussion about the Quality Image assessment of one of your photographs: please see here.

As far as I can see, the most important point is the perspective. While your photo is very nice in itself, the rules for Quality Images normally require a perspective correction for photographs of buildings, i.e. making all straight lines appear straight. This is best done right in the raw image file conversion process, i.e. in your case in Lightroom. Have you a raw image file for this photograph, i.e. a CRW/CR2/CR3 file? Could you try to create a variant of this photograph with lens and perspective correction applied? (I would suggest to upload it as a separate image with a new file name, because the current version of your photograph has made such success in WLM and should IMHO not be overridden. :–) Or, if you do not want to do this yourself, in the discussion Hans-Jürgen Neubert has already offered to create an improved version for you, and I can can offer the same (i.e., I can try to create a version of your photo which complies to the suggestions given in the QI discussion). It would only be necessary that you could send the CRW/CR2/CR3 file to me or a version converted into DNG file format to Hans-Jürgen Neubert …

No offence, I just want to help a bit. Best, --Aristeas (talk) 17:39, 4 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

ːHello Nrik, my offer is still valid. Unfortunately QI is more a technical view to images and nothing about impressive aspects. It´s a really outstanding image, but only more a FPC/FI - VI have technical issues, too. I shoot here mostly monuments and know the matters about distorted perspective and some time the crowd want corrections, far away from lens issues AND nature. (Feel free to check out my own image from Chiang Rai). I just replay my offer to explain, why I need DNG (free converter from adobe) we (I) need sensor data, lens data and only DNG included both from your own equipment, otherwise I convert CR3 to DNG, imo the only way to work seriously. The result will be generated PSD-File with different layers (and correction via factory data and ViewPoint 3 from DxO. At this level you can make your own choice to convert the final jpeg-Version. Dervivate work is every time the interpration from other eyes. I don´t know other ways to keep objective (critic) and give the offer for working it out to a better level...Keep shooting and a happy new yearǃ Regards, --Hans-Jürgen Neubert 10:13, 5 January 2019 (UTC)

Problem in VI edit

Renaming the file during the contest destroys the nomination. Either you cancel the renaming temporarily until promotion or you redo a new appointment with the new name of the file. --Archaeodontosaurus (talk) 09:02, 20 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

Location? edit

Hi Nrik - thanks for adding your photo File:U5A8830.jpg to Wiki Commons! Could you add the location where you took the photo, please - it is important to help with identification and categorisation of the photo, and also makes it a lot more useful. Thanks! - MPF (talk) 01:01, 1 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

Only scientific name as category edit

Hello,

Please do not use "Bird" or "Birds" as category for your pictures, only the scientific (binomial) name.

Nirmal Dulal, I like this photo a lot (I'd probably vote for it if it were nominated at COM:FPC, but I suspect others would object to the blue sky, which to me offsets the pointy peak very well), but it is not your photo. From now on, when you nominate some other Commoner's photo, please use the procedure shown in the upper section of this page. Thanks a lot, and thanks for nominating others' photos, which is very nice. -- Ikan Kekek 06:30, 16 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
