Initial message: “Commons:Deletion requests/File:Robotpeintre.gif”, posted by SilkTork (d · c).
The deletion discussion has been closed by User:Mod mmg as a keep. This is an inappropriate closure as Mod mmg took place in the discussion, and the consensus was not for a keep. The file itself, File:Robotpeintre.gif, was then detagged by Mod mmg, which included removal of a legitimate No source since tag. Under the Commons:Deletion policy, the file should be deleted because it does not contain essential source information, and has been tagged as such for more than seven days. I have restored the tags on the file, but as I am not an admin on Commons, I cannot delete the file myself. Regards SilkTork (talk) 09:46, 10 March 2010 (UTC)
- I left a message onto the administrators’ noticeboard. Thank you for your report. Diti the penguin — 12:53, 10 March 2010 (UTC)
Tip: Categorizing images
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.CategorizationBot (talk) 10:51, 15 December 2010 (UTC)

- File:Sandels Kustaanmiekassa.jpg - not? could you explain more?
- File:Karhu.jpg - too old? Do we have a date on that image?
- File:SILK YEBISU BEER .jpg & File:YEBISU, All Malt Beer, .jpg - same as above.
I'm fine with all of these not being deleted, but there should be an explanation in the descriptions as to why they are not copyrighted. - Themightyquill (talk) 14:49, 27 March 2011 (UTC)
- Explanations are on the talkpages. SilkTork (talk) 14:07, 4 April 2011 (UTC)

Notification about possible deletion
Some contents have been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether they should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at their entry.
If you created these pages, please note that the fact that they have been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with them, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues. |

deletion of Edsim Vascular.jpg
Hi, you left a standard "this file up for deletion" message on my talk page a while ago. I'd like to point out I have only once retouched this file and have nothing to do with its original upload. You should probably contact someone else about the deletion. Pitke (talk) 10:47, 13 August 2012 (UTC)
- That message was left automatically. I didn't select for you to receive it. I suppose the thinking behind the programmer, was that anyone who had edited the file might have an interest in a deletion review. SilkTork (talk) 16:01, 13 August 2012 (UTC)
OTRS
(Just for the record:) Hello, I have removed the "autopatrolled" flag from you Account. "OTRS Member" right includes autopatrol, so this right is redundant , Regards--Steinsplitter (talk) 17:48, 27 June 2013 (UTC)
- OK. Thanks for letting me know. SilkTork (talk) 01:52, 28 June 2013 (UTC)
Note from user Oxyman
User:Oxyman disagreed in September 2014 with some re-categorization in Category:Food in London by borough - for example https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=File%3ACheeseburger_-_BrewDog_Camden%2C_Camden_Town%2C_London.jpg&diff=133254419&oldid=132509356 and left me a note saying he had "to go around repairing the damage".

Thanks for uploading File:Mighty Oak Oscar Wilde mild.jpg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.
If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with GFDL to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with PD-self to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.) If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there. Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you. |
