Timber framing in Essen edit

-- Ies (talk) 16:07, 21 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Autopatrol given edit

Hello. I just wanted to let you know that I have granted autopatrol rights to your account; the reason for this is that I believe you are sufficiently trustworthy and experienced to have your contributions automatically marked as "reviewed". This has no effect on your editing, it is simply intended to make it easier for users that are monitoring Recent changes or Recent uploads to find unproductive edits amidst the productive ones like yours. In addition, the Flickr upload feature and an increased number of batch-uploads in UploadWizard, uploading of freely licensed MP3 files, overwriting files uploaded by others and an increased limit for page renames per minute are now available to you. Thank you. odder (talk) 10:05, 11 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Norway puzzle edit

Hallo Sjokolade!

Picture of the Year 2013 R2 Announcement edit

Round 2 of Picture of the Year 2013 is open! edit

2012 Picture of the Year: A pair of European Bee-eaters in Ariège, France.

Dear Wikimedians,

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the second round of the 2013 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the eighth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2013) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year were entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.

There are two total rounds of voting. In the first round, you voted for as many images as you liked. The top 30 overall and the most popular image in each category have continued to the final. In the final round, you may vote for just one image to become the Picture of the Year.

Round 2 will end on 7 March 2014. https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:MyLanguage/Commons:Picture_of_the_Year/2013/Introduction/en Click here to learn more and vote »]

Dear Sjokolade,

The 2013 Picture of the Year competition has ended and we are pleased to announce the results: We shattered participation records this year — more people voted in Picture of the Year 2013 than ever before. Wiki Loves Earth 2014 - Ein Wiki-Beitrag für den Naturschutz edit

Hallo Sjokolade,

Wiki Loves Monuments 2014 startet in Kürze edit

Hallo Sjokolade,

wrong category for Lars Tiller's artwork edit

Hello, Sjokolade, I have already commented on this on the discussion page for the new category you have created, "Paintings by Lars Tiller", but as you have not answered there, I mention it here, as well: Only a few of the works of art that you have given this category are actually paintings. I suggest you change it to either "Artwork by Lars Tiller" or "Works of art by Lars Tiller" - or move those that are not paintings back to the "Lars Tiller"-category. I see you are working with the Bjørn Krogstad category now. There are a few prints (not paintings) there, as well. All the best, Kjersti L. 12:07, 14 January 2015 (UTC)

Hi Kjersti, I'm sorry I missed this discussion, I'm not every day online. Are these prints reproductions of the artwork (painting) or produced Tiller / Krogstad his artwork as a print? If it is a reproduction it would be wonderful if you could annotate it in the description. Otherwise I have to create a new cat "Prints by ..." or move it back to the "name"-cat. A "artwork by"-cat is not common as I can see, just for unknown artists. Can you please help me, what is "pva"? I will look up Lars Tiller soon. Thank you very much. - hilsen --Sjokolade (talk) 12:27, 14 January 2015 (UTC)Reply
Here I am again: No, the ones that are not paintings, are not reproductions. (Apart from Lars Tiller "the sculptor". They are serigraphies, drawings and linocuts (those I remember), as is stated in the description field for each file. PVA=Polyvinyl Acetate, used as a binding with acrylic paint - I think. I have asked the artist Bjørn Krogstad to write a short explanation in German, which I will forward to you. It may not be precise or correct of me to write just "PVA", but that was what the artist had done. I'll be back! :) Kjersti L. 12:46, 14 January 2015 (UTC)
Ok I've looked through it. In the sculptures description is mentioned "painting" but I thought of a drawing too. If you're sure it is, I would change it to drawing and move it. The other ones in Lars Tiller I could not identify, so 2 are still not correct. Which ones In Krogstads cat are wrong? Bukser mi (and badebilder?)? Description of bukser mi is just mixed technique... If you want you can optimise it yourself. - greetings --Sjokolade (talk) 13:19, 14 January 2015 (UTC)Reply
"The sculptor" by Lars Tiller is a reproduction of a painting, it is not a drawing. I had a look at the content of the categories now. It looks OK to me! Thank you! Kjersti L. 17:49, 14 January 2015 (UTC)
you're welcome and thanks for the good explanation :) - --Sjokolade (talk) 13:37, 15 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

Stabbur vs. loft edit

- 4ing (talk) 12:02, 21 May 2015 (UTC)Reply
ja vel, da gjorde jeg en feil. Takk for hjelpen. --Sjokolade (talk) 12:15, 21 May 2015 (UTC)Reply
- 4ing (talk) 12:27, 21 May 2015 (UTC)Reply
Mange hilsner --Sjokolade (talk) 12:39, 21 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

Aha! Kjersti L. 18:43, 26 May 2015 (UTC)

Mange hilsner --Sjokolade (talk) 20:34, 26 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

Gunnerus biblioteket - feil norsk, feil navn edit

Gunnerusbiblioteket må ligge i kategori NTNU Universitetsbiblioteket. Kjersti L. 11:36, 17 June 2015 (UTC)

ups... takk for hjelpen --Sjokolade (talk) 11:38, 17 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

--Sjokolade (talk) 12:09, 17 June 2015 (UTC)Reply
This is the precise and correct category: "Category:Interior of Hovedbygningen (NTNU)" I cannot see Hovedbiblioteket anywhere in the description? Hovedbygningen, on the other hand, =The main building, is mentioned. The mural was painted in the main hall of HovedBYGNINGEN, not HovedBIBLIOTEKET, above the entrance to the library, which was the main library 100 years ago, when it was painted. Kjersti L. 12:13, 17 June 2015 (UTC)
It is in the hall next to where I sit and work right now! :D Kjersti L. 12:14, 17 June 2015 (UTC)
oh this was a missunderstanding, I displaced the murals meanwhile to hovedbygningen but I thought you worried of the name of the category too... sorry just level no-2. Nevertheless nice to improve my skills :). hilsen --Sjokolade (talk) 12:30, 17 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Bots edit

You are receiving this message because a technical change may affect a bot, gadget, or user script you have been using. The breaking change involves API calls. This change has been planned for two years. The WMF will start making this change on 30 June 2015. A partial list of affected bots can be seen here: https://lists.wikimedia.org/pipermail/wikitech-l/2015-June/081931.html This includes all bots that are using pywikibot compat. Some of these bots have already been fixed. However, if you write user scripts or operate a bot that uses the API, then you should check your code, to make sure that it will not break.

What, exactly, is breaking? The "default continuation mode" for action=query requests to api.php will be changing to be easier for new coders to use correctly. To find out whether your script or bot may be affected, then search the source code (including any frameworks or libraries) for the string "query-continue". If that is not present, then the script or bot is not affected. In a few cases, the code will be present but not used. In that case, the script or bot will continue working.

This change will be part of 1.26wmf12. It will be deployed to test wikis (including mediawiki.org) on 30 June, to non-Wikipedias (such as Wiktionary) on 1 July, and to all Wikipedias on 2 July 2015.

If your bot or script is receiving the warning about this upcoming change (as seen at https://www.mediawiki.org/w/api.php?action=query&list=allpages ), it's time to fix your code!

Either of the above solutions may be tested immediately, you'll know it works because you stop seeing the warning.

Do you need help with your own bot or script? Ask questions in e-mail on the mediawiki-api or wikitech-l mailing lists. Volunteers at m:Tech or w:en:WP:Village pump (technical) or w:en:Wikipedia:Bot owners' noticeboard may also be able to help you.

Are you using someone else's gadgets or user scripts? Most scripts are not affected. To find out if a script you use needs to be updated, then post a note at the discussion page for the gadget or the talk page of the user who originally made the script. Whatamidoing (WMF) (talk) 19:03, 17 June 2015 (UTC)

File:NTNU UB Fine art library 2.jpg edit

Hello again, Sjokolade. I understand that you spend most of your time on Commons adding, changing - and sometimes removing - categories to files uploaded by others (at least by me!). I do not always agree with what you choose to do, but as long as your changes help people find the photos, I do not argue with you, although I have learnt that one should not create new categories when there are less than say 10-15 photos relevant for that category.

The file I have used as a headline for this message to you, now has both "shelves in Norway" and "shelves"., added by you. I take it you are going to remove one of them? (I wonder how relevant the category "shelves in Norway" is - to anybody, but it's OK, if you insist. )

Sometimes you add more specific categories (like "residential buildings ..." instead of my "buildings ..."). That is, of course, an improvement, but I ask you not to remove categories that I have given the files I have uploaded, without considering if there is a reason for my choice. The files are uploaded for a specific reason, and there is also a reason for the categories. In this case: "NTNU Universitetsbiblioteket". The idea is that all the NTNU UB libraries should be tagged with this category, so you can get a list showing both exterior and interior of all the libraries together. I therefore put it back again, and ask you not to remove it. Kjersti L. 22:41, 6 July 2015 (UTC)

hi Kjersti, I did not removed the category as you think. The fine art library is located in Industribygget, therefore I categorised the Industribygget as a head-category with NTNU Universitetsbiblioteket. So everything is fine - now you can find all photos of industribygget and the library photos are collected to. Maybe you wonder why I look up the the photos but if you have a look yourself, you'll find a lot of them uncategorized or in wrong or not very specific categories. If you search for a specific building for example there are a lot categories where it could get lost iwhen the filename or description is missing. Maybe you find it in History of... or historical images or very specific category but not connected to the country (so mostly you have then to search in 1000 of photos). Furthermore you have a chance to find it in Architecture of,,, or by architecture style, maybe in "city by date" and so on. I hope you understand my intension a little bit better now. If I mede a mistake or you have a better idea you can talk to me. You know your city better than me. mvh --Sjokolade (talk) 04:20, 7 July 2015 (UTC)Reply
Hi, Sjokolade.:I have no problems understanding your good intentions, as you explained them, and I applaud you (most of the times) and say: Keep up the good work! The changes you have made concerning Industribygget are not entirely logical to me, though. The building contains both commercial firms and organizations; areas for NTNU - Faculty of architecture and fine art - and for NTNU Universitetsbiblioteket. The way the Industribygget files are categorized now, you will not find the building as one of the NTNU campuses. (Maybe that should be a category?) :) Kjersti L. 08:23, 7 July 2015 (UTC)
aha at least the penny's dropped! The Industribygget is categorized as a sub-category of "NTNU Universitetsbiblioteket", cause I thought there is just the library of architecture and fine arts. (NTNU Trondheim → NTNU Universitetsbiblioteket → Industribygget.) If there is, as you said (I didn't know that), the faculty of architecture and fine arts it needs to be categorized as a sub-cat of NTNU Trondheim (which campus is it?). As so long it was in good order to me (building and building interior together = not out of the common run → not many photos; offices and NTNU not mixup until now → more photos = more sub-cats). Do you wish a sub-cat for the library right now? --Sjokolade (talk) 17:38, 7 July 2015 (UTC)Reply
(Obviously, I was thrown out while writing to you. But what follows here, is written by Kjersti L.): This takes time, Sjokolade, for both you and me - and I prefer editing articles to categorizing photos while online in this timeconsuming society! :) Therefore you don't always get prompt replies from me, but here goes:

As the collection of photos grows, the need for subcategories also grows, and sometimes some of the files that have been uploaded before, are not moved to the new, more specific subcategory - then the new subcategories are not as useful as they could be... Big job!

You ask if I want a subcategory for the library, I suppose you mean the art lib.? Maybe it is OK that it has NTNU Universitetsbiblioteket as its category for now? I see that some of the libraries have their own subcategories - others have not. Not always logical, as the number of photos - so far - is almost the same for them. If you like, you may create subcategories for all of them - or none?! Whichever solution you prefer: "Dora, Trondheim‎" should not be a subcategory of NTNU Universitetsbiblioteket. It should be replaced by "Dorabiblioteket". "Dora, Trondheim" may very well be a category, but this German bunker from WWII contains both national and local archives and other organizations, in addition to the NTNU UB library "Dorabiblioteket" and the NTNU Main Archive.

You ask what campus the Industribygget activities belong to. I have forwarded your question to a person at NTNU, as they seem to have changed the campus names, due to the development of an interactive map solution, "Mazemap". There it is called "Solsiden" - and includes both the activities in Industribygget and in Dokkhuset (mainly a concert arena). In an older map of the NTNU campuses it is simply called "Kunstakademiet". It would - as I wrote last time - probably be a good idea to have a subcategory (under Category:NTNU, Trondheim) for all the campuses, and I will forward his reply when I receive it. Summer holiday time, you know. Kjersti L. 13:38, 9 July 2015 (UTC)

Hi Kjersti, now I tried my very best to sort out the photos. I found a map of the campus locations on NTNU website and collected the university buildings by campuses. Afterwards I looked through the photos of the libraries. If the library is just part of a building with further functions, just the photo of the library interior is part of the collection. Therefore Valgrinda campus was sorted out. Except the photos of buildings which are discribed where the library is located and you can see it on the photo. Have a nice day --Sjokolade (talk) 11:04, 10 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

File:NTNU UB Marine Technology Library 1.jpg edit

Hm … there is so much explaining to do, when you change categories ... This time: MARINTEK is not the same as Marinteknisk senter. MARINTEK is not an NTNU dept, but of SINTEF, and uses some of the offices/labs in Marinteknisk senter. I understand that you read Norwegian, so I quote, from the article NTNU Tyholt: "NTNU-avdelingene og -sentrene på Tyholt har geografisk nærhet til, og et nært samarbeid med, Norsk Marinteknisk Forskningsinstitutt AS (MARINTEK), et selskap i SINTEF-gruppen." In other words, giving the photos of Marinteknisk senter the category MARINTEK is not correct. I have seen that the uploader sometimes has given the photos names like "Marintek", when the photo actually shows Marinteknisk senter, but that is, as you understand now, not correct. Kjersti L. 11:20, 10 July 2015 (UTC)

Done you said they uses offices/labs in the building therefore I made a sub cat. If you think it's not necessary just delete the cat-link. Thank you --Sjokolade (talk) 12:22, 10 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hei igjen, Sjokolade.

Her har du vel "overkategorisert" litt? 129.241.221.104 08:23, 5 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

Takk for å passer opp :) Mange hilsner --Sjokolade (talk) 08:53, 5 August 2015 (UTC)Reply
Beklager, Sjokolade. Det var jeg som skrev forrige innlegg. Trodde jeg var pålogget! Kjersti L. 14:05, 5 August 2015 (UTC)

Fem kommuner i Finnmark edit

Hilsen --Sjokolade (talk) 11:58, 7 February 2016 (UTC)Reply
Det er greit, da gjør jeg det. Takk for svar! Hilsen --Anne-Sophie Ofrim (talk) 12:16, 7 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

Round 2 of Picture of the Year 2015 is open! edit

You are receiving this message because you voted in R1 of the 2015 Picture of the Year contest.

Dear Sjokolade,

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the second round of the 2015 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the tenth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2015) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

In Round 1, there were 1322 candidate images. There are 56 finalists in Round 2, comprised of the top 30 overall as well as the top #1 and #2 from each sub-category. In the final round, you may vote for just one or maximal three image to become the Picture of the Year.

Round 2 will end on 28 May 2016, 23:59:59 UTC.

Bergen edit

Hi! What is the reason for renaming the "<YEAR> in Bergen" categories to "<YEAR> in Bergen, Norway"? Could you point any discussion about this change? I know, there are places named "Bergen" other than Bergen, Norway, but they seem to be much smaller/of less significance than Bergen, Norway, and at least some of them are probably named after Bergen, Norway. ––Apalsola tc 11:58, 9 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hyvää päivää, yes I know the importance of Bergen, Norway but it seems there are many people who don't. In the main category Bergen I found a lot of pictures from all over the world f.e from USA, Netherlands and Germany. So in the long term it will be better to sort them in a specific category and use of disambiguations-sites, so that the photographer has to decide which place is meant. --Sjokolade (talk) 12:26, 9 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

Bergen 1916 edit

Category:Kautokeino_tettsted edit

Kautokeino tettsted has been listed at Commons:Categories for discussion so that the community can discuss ways in which it should be changed. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this category, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for discussion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it. If the category is up for deletion because it has been superseded, consider the notion that although the category may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new category.

In all cases, please do not take the category discussion personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you!

Ships in Korsfjorden, Norway edit

Mvh Anders (talk) 16:19, 5 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
