Comedians as Authors panel at the 2014 Brooklyn Book Festival edit

Hi, Trivialist. As is explained at COM:OVERCAT, "The general rule is always place an image in the most specific categories, and not in the levels above those." When I take one or two photos of a person, I put them in that person's category, but when I take large amounts of photos of them, (i.e.: at a specific event), I create an category for that event, and place that category as a subcategory in the person's category, which is the entire reason why categories are subdivided.

Because I and others often take large amounts of photos of people, sometimes at multiple events, all the photos would not fit on the person's main cat page. A good example is Patrick Stewart's page. Had I not placed the 63 photos I took of him at Wizard World 2013, and the 34 pics I took of him and his colleagues at the press junket at Sardis in their own subcats, they'd all be on the main page, and combined with the 49 already on that page, they'd be cluttered. Subcategorizing helps organize files.

Another benefit to this is that I only have to place the new event category as a subcat in other categories once, instead of doing it for each and every photo, which makes it easier for me to upload large amounts of photos. Nightscream (talk) 03:03, 10 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

File:Invictus AS.jpg edit

File:Invictus AS.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Category:Kayden_Kross_in_2015 edit

Kayden Kross in 2015 has been listed at Commons:Categories for discussion so that the community can discuss ways in which it should be changed. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this category, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for discussion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it. If the category is up for deletion because it has been superseded, consider the notion that although the category may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new category.

In all cases, please do not take the category discussion personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you!

Uncategorization edit

I’m not sure what was meant with this edit (and hundreds like this you made recently) but it doesn’t seem like a good idea at all. -- Tuválkin 10:20, 16 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Tuvalkin: I'll do what I can, though it might be more efficient to get an admin to just roll back all of my edits of yesterday. Trivialist (talk) 00:37, 17 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

Look, even as someone who entirely agrees with your views on these categories, you have to admit your solution seems like a nuclear option and rigging of all discussions. I hope you can help us here. Ricky81682 (talk) 10:34, 14 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

Ways to link films and actors edit

Hi. It's incorrect to add a film category to an actor/actress category. Either you created cast categories like Category:Tarzan (Disney franchise) cast or you add a category like Category:Films starring Minnie Driver and you categorize film categories in it. What's up with the 20th Century logos? edit

Hi. I was watching Chjocgxidhxodzhi's talk page, because I had asked them whether they're sure about the use of {{Copyrighted free use}} on several logos. (No answer so far.) And today they received a copyvio warning for the 20th Century Studio/Fox logos. I see that you placed and quickly reverted those copyvio tags.

Wikipedia:File:20th Century Studios.svg is tagged with {{PD-US-no notice}} and {{PD-textlogo}}, which implies that it's indeed not a copyvio, but also not quite {{Copyrighted free use}}. So I guess we should remove the warning from Chjocgxidhxodzhi's talk page and change the licenses? What's your opinion? TilmannR (talk) 12:55, 19 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
