Yonatanh was well within his rights to label this image as derivative, as the original sculpture carries a copyright, regardless of the copyright of the photograph. This image is therefore, likely not free and should be removed from Commons. I am labeling it for deletion requests to solicit more specific legal opinions. What are you talking about? The picture is a cc-by copyrighted picture taken in a museum. It is therefore the author's right to place is under cc-by and anyone's right to create a derivative. Re: Plastique icon set

I checked now the main page from he.wikipedia and transcluded ones and don't find none of the deleted images from this icon set, neither any action on removing the images. You pointed to the right wiki/page? Anyway, do you know the User:CommonsDelinker? Please, write back to me on my user talk, this isn't a fault by the Wikimedia Commons, this is a my fault. Sorry about the outburst... I was already pissed off about something else, and after seeing two deleted images on our upload page I just had to write with caps lock on =/ I guess this wasn't too bad, considering only registered users can upload files, but still, this wasn't the first time I had found a deleted image without removing the link. The bureaucrat protected it as he closed the request as unsuccessful; which is within Commons policy. Incidentally, you do not need sysop rights to do that, do the translation and poke an administrator and they will be happy do the implementation for you. I have no intention of playing around with other admins and talk pages. I thought I was sure I would receive the sysop rights as I am a trusted member in he.wiki, not to mention, I am one of the founders of Wikimedia Israel (to be). Well, considering this is a volunteering project, what you are looking for is hard to find. I saw the list of admins, it is quite long and nevertheless you have backlogs. Also, I had committed to translate the site to Hebrew, and that alone should be enough. Hebrew translations

You have offered to help out translating and now I come to you to ask you to translate something. Please would you kindly MediaWiki:Uploadtext into Hebrew using exactly the same formating and layout. This would allow the wiki to look more professional as all the translations will have a roughly similar layout. This will be very much appreciated, thank you in advanced. I have already translated the page. I used the layout that is used in he.wiki as most (if not all) Hebrew users are users of he.wiki, and thus are more familiar with this layout. I don't see any point in have a similar format to that of the English one, I think that the layout should be the most convenient one. I am still waiting for a sysop to instert my code. I must note that Yonatanh has reverted my code and will not change it back (he wrote "why downgrade the upload form?" but you all cannot see that my code is a definite upgrade), even though the current translation looks all messed up in IE. Please note that this is not the Hebrew Wikipedia, the Wikimedia Commons has its own rules and policies. More importantly we only accept freely licensed images, I think (and many others would agree) it is important to make a clear distinction between uploading to the Commons and uploading to Local wikis. Uploading copyright violations

I don't know what you are talking about - I see no change. All problems are still there. Instaed of playing around with this code, why dont you listen to me already and not be so stubborn. Here? Good. The deal is simple. The current Hebrew upload form is messed up. I wrote a better-looking, bug-free, upload form, and Yonatanh (who doesn't like me) and the above admin will not use my code, even though I gave perfectly good reasons why they should use it. The only readon why Lcars doesn't want to use the code, or at least this is what I understand from what he said, is that the form should look like the other upload forms and state that only free images are aloud (which it does state). He failed to show where the demand for similar upload forms are written and he ignored my explainations why the similarity should be overlooked in this case (and perhaps in other case). In fact, it feels like I am talking to the wall. All I want to do is to help translate the basic stuff and instead of this I need to spend my time explaining why pretty forms are better than messed up code. Can something be done about this? From what I understood from his explanation, he got permission from Mimel (whatever that may be) to use these images on Wikipedia. There are two problems with that, one which you're aware of is that for wikipedia permissions aren't satisfactory and the other being the fact that Mimel isn't necessarily the copyright holder of these photographs. In general, permissions need to be logged in the OTRS system (something which you also know) and verbal permissions are allowed only in certain cases when the user has shown to be trustworthy and knowledgeable with copyrights. The original uploader is probably the former but I'm quite confident in saying he isn't the latter. Yonatan ^talk 07:01, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

Hatemongering "Latuff" cartoons

I've never added a speedydelete tag to a Latuff pic. If Commons community think these pictures should be hosted freely by Wikimedia, I think I have been donating to the wrong organization. Good day. I've observed that you are one of the 8 users that unanimously supported this pciture in the first 65 minutes of that picture FPC vote. Since 17 of the 18 subsequent votes were opposing and a look on your user page indicate that all of you 8 supporting are related in some way to the hebrew language, my understanding is that your vote may be bias in order to support a friend. Please understand that bias votes can easily destroy the FPC process. You are invited and encouraged to participate in the FPC voting process, but please do so by following the guidelines. Your understanding is incorrect. Although I know the person who suggested the picture, I do think the image is good enough, IMHO, to be a Featured picture. I never said that your vote was bias. 4 of the 8 original votes have been removed by the voters after I sent my message, and 3 accounts were created for the unique reason of voting. These facts lead me to believe that there was a real bias for some votes. However, how could I knew from the beginning who voted in accordance with the guidelines, and who did not? I am sorry you could have been insulted by my comment, but understand that other voters have been insulted by some votes as well.

You understanding implies my vote was bias, and that on itself is ugly. I would prefer if you would leave such opinions to yourself.

How would you like it if I went to your home wiki and left a message there, "I feel your vote may have been bias", just because I thought someone might be voting this way? Not pleasant, I am sure.

A much better approach on your behalf would have been to leave a comment on the voting page: "Please notice the guidelines. A better approach by far. Yonidebest Ω Talk 19:57, 24 June 2008 (UTC)
