Videotelephony covers the various technologies of conveying both sight and sound in real-time between two or more parties via telecommunications. It was the evolutionary step past the regular telephone, and undertook its first experimental trials in the late 1920s with the advent of videophones, which were first formed from the marriage of telephony, telegraphy, video and radio technologies.
