Images from United States National Cancer Institute edit

Hi Philipp, just a quick note letting you know that I've had to delete images you uploaded from the US National Cancer Institute website - it appears there was an error on the part of the NCI and they informed users to their website that some images on their website were in the public domain when in fact they were owned by a third party, who retains the copyright on the images. The owner of these images contacted us today asking us to remove the images, and I have accordingly done so after reviewing the request. If you have any concerns, you can either contact me, or ask any other OTRS volunteer to go over the details of the request with you. The ticket number for reference is 2008040410013501. If you are aware of any other such images, please could you contact me or any other OTRS volunteer here at Commons. Thanks and Best Wishes. Nick 00:53, 8 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hello, PhilippN!

Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

Better source request for Image:CPR Dummy-Air Force.JPG edit

Thanks for uploading Image:CPR Dummy-Air Force.JPG. You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the image because the source is incomplete. Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact web page where you found the image, rather than only giving the source domain or the URL of the image file itself. Please update the image description with a URL that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. If you have any questions please ask them at the help desk or me at my talkpage. Thank you. High Contrast (talk) 16:23, 17 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

File:HCV prevalence 1999.png edit

Hi PhilippN, I am currently working on the Polish version of the article about Hepatitis C. There is one picture of you used in the original article. I would like to use it, however with the Polish descriptions. I have tried to edit the picture in Inkscape but am unable to change the text. Would you be so kind and advise me how I can do it? Will appreciate your help!

Best regards, Katarzyna (User:KatSorWit)

Photograph of neoplastic cell edit

The detail of a peripheral blood film on the right does not show a neoplastic cell. This image should be removed. A photograph showing a lymphocyte with convoluted nucleus would be much better.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution.
