Category names should be in English edit

See Commons:Rename a category#Types of renames --Robert.Allen (talk) 04:38, 21 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

User:Robert.Allen,
Should I do the renaming in the reverse way ? Sometimes I saw that English was not generally used. Regards. - LeoAlig (talk) 08:43, 21 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
Yes, that would be nice. Thank you! It's not an ideal situation, and it's unfortunate they have not yet implemented multilingual category names. Perhaps that is technically difficult and/or too expensive? Don't know. Cheers, --Robert.Allen (talk) 19:25, 21 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
I will do it in the following days (or weeks?) considering that I will keep the French names for monuments. Besides, it was because not everything was translated into English that I decided to go back to the French standard texts. LeoAlig (talk) 03:33, 22 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
Yes, it can be confusing because English imports a lot of French words, so a kind of mish-mash results. Perhaps the English concept of a "proper name" (in English often kept in French) is different from French. --Robert.Allen (talk) 23:26, 25 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
I think your sentence should be “in English, often derived from French”, to be clearer. Best wishes. - LeoAlig (talk) 03:07, 26 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
