Category:Surrey bus routes 462 and 463

English: Two routes between Woking and Guildford. Route 462 was introduced in October 2006 after the Woking-Guildford section of route 436 was withdrawn.
  • Route 462: Woking, Kingfield, Elmbridge Lane Estate, Rydens Way Estate, Old Woking, Send, Send Marsh, Burntcommon, direct via A3 to Burpham, London Road, Guildford.
  • Route 463: Woking, Kingfield, Elmbridge Lane Estate, Rydens Way Estate, Old Woking, Send, Send Marsh, Burntcommon, West Clandon, Merrow, Epsom Road, Guildford.

As part of Phase 1 of Surrey County Council's Bus Review, Countryliner decided to take on routes 462 and 463 on a commercial basis, with a revised timetable. The service was diverted via Elmbridge Lane Estate and Rydens Way Estate between Kingfield and Old Woking High Street, no longer serving Kingfield Green. This partially replaced route 71 and enabled that route to be withdrawn. However, Countryliner decided not to continue to serve Ripley, therefore the double-run to Ripley and back between Send Marsh and Burntcommon Roundabout was dropped, buses running directly between Send Marsh and Burntcommon. Due to the loss of the link from Ripley, Surrey County Council agreed to start new tendered route 562, from Ripley to Woking. This is operated by Arriva Guildford & West Surrey, and retains the link from Ripley to Woking, and also follows the old routes of services 462 and 463 around Old Woking and Kingfield, serving Kingfield Green and meaning that no bus stops around that area are left unserved. The changes came into effect on 28 August 2010.
